WEEK ONE

WEEK ONE
29 Vacationers

As much as this vacation was unplanned, hopefully you've found some time to enjoy yourself this weekend as you've settled in. The idyllic beach, all inclusive food, drink, and shopping might be almost enough to distract you from that pesky talk of sacrifice. Vacations really are about letting your worries pass you by. Hopefully you've found the time to set up your U-PINION too, because if you haven't, it's been chirping incessantly since the date turned to Monday. And come Monday at noon, everyone's device will let out a pleasant jingle, heralding several announcements across the screen:

Happy Monday! We've hope you've been enjoying your time at Sungem's Peak. The Mermer (intranet) is now fully operational. Chat with your friends and get recommendations for how to best enjoy your vacation, by:

We're also happy to announce our reward system is live! Complete tasks to receive special items to improve your stay!!! Contact your administrators for any questions or concerns. We hope you have a wonderful week!

The artificial peppiness of the announcement just oozes out from the U-PINION, and soon thereafter everyone will be accosted by a friendly robot that forces a physical copy of the rules into their hands anyway. Just in case. They'll also present a copy of the tasks this week as well, for any interested parties.

!
TASKS:

Be Nice
Now that you're acquainted, tell another person one thing you like about them, and why.
(REWARD: RARE!)

Let's Play!
Play a game with someone else. Any type of game: board games, card games, or even a party game! (Reward: Common )

Summer Spooks
Tell a two-sentence horror story in person, or on the network.
(Reward: Common)
((OOC: Welcome to Week 1! This is a peace week, so they'll be no case this weekend. However, we have something for you to chew on Saturday, time to be announced later in discord.

We'll also be playing around with the network and seeing what works as far as formatting goes, so thanks for bearing with us! Also please note, that the poll questions are anon, but any answers won't be. ))

[Thumbs up!]

It happens. Not everything's created the same way.

[ Right back at ya! ]

Right you are. That's what bioengineering and other methods I don't know about are for.

Not sure what bioengineering is. But my brothers and I were created out of nothing, so I can't really argue if someone's found out how to do it another way, even if I don't understand it.

Just call it weird science things.

[ He is leaving it at that, because not fun. ]

That sounds like a cool way to make an entrance though.

Cool? [Huh. He tilts his head in thought for a second.]

I guess. It's how most of us were made, so I never thought much of it.

Satan's the exception, but... mm. That's complicated.

What about for you? Do you think your start was "cool"?
divector: (ⓘ crossroad ahead)

[personal profile] divector 2023-05-19 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully not more complicated than advanced mathematical proofs.

[ It takes him a moment to continue since he actually has to think about it. ]

Hmm, not really? It's hard to feel happy about it, but I wouldn't say I'm sad either. But you can't really choose your starting point anyway, so I don't think my feelings there matter much now.

[personal profile] gluttoning 2023-05-22 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Uh. Well, I think you can explain math, even if it's complicated. So... maybe.

[IT SURE IS COMPLICATED and his head hurts a little just thinking about it.]

...Ah. Yeah, I think I could get that much. If it's all you had and all you know, then it's hard to really do much about it.

It sounds like you're levelheaded about it, though.
divector: (ⓘ she's fleeing from me again)

[personal profile] divector 2023-05-22 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Huh, I see. Sounds rough.

[ Intriguing, but probably better not to push if it's that complicated? He's sure curious though. ]

Levelheaded... I guess you could say that, but I just prefer to think about things I could change. Maybe to the point of overthinking. Don't you think that's more interesting? Like trying to solve a riddle.

I don't know about that. But I've never really been one for thinking too hard. [It's fine if he can keep up, but the second he gets frustrated? Man. No good.]

Focusing on the present doesn't sound bad at all, though. It's pretty realistic.
divector: (ⓘ and going to make it your problem)

[personal profile] divector 2023-05-22 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
It's the only thing you can realistically change, from my point of view. So I agree with that.

[ Then he blinks twice, suddenly remembering someone offhand. It's not quite an exception to the rule, but something he had to keep note of. ]

Though there is someone where I'm from who can predict the future with high accuracy.
