As much as this vacation was unplanned, hopefully you've found some time to enjoy yourself this weekend as you've settled in. The idyllic beach, all inclusive food, drink, and shopping might be almost enough to distract you from that pesky talk of sacrifice. Vacations really are about letting your worries pass you by. Hopefully you've found the time to set up your U-PINION too, because if you haven't, it's been chirping incessantly since the date turned to Monday. And come Monday at noon, everyone's device will let out a pleasant jingle, heralding several announcements across the screen:

Happy Monday! We've hope you've been enjoying your time at Sungem's Peak. The Mermer (intranet) is now fully operational. Chat with your friends and get recommendations for how to best enjoy your vacation, by:

• Reading about your fellow vacationers via their profile
• Chatting on the network
• Asking honest questions via our anonymous poll system
• REQUIRED: Reading the RULES set by the administrators

We're also happy to announce our reward system is live! Complete tasks to receive special items to improve your stay!!! Contact your administrators for any questions or concerns. We hope you have a wonderful week!

The artificial peppiness of the announcement just oozes out from the U-PINION, and soon thereafter everyone will be accosted by a friendly robot that forces a physical copy of the rules into their hands anyway. Just in case. They'll also present a copy of the tasks this week as well, for any interested parties.

((OOC: Welcome to Week 1! This is a peace week, so they'll be no case this weekend. However, we have something for you to chew on Saturday, time to be announced later in discord.

Guess you're lucky for that much now.

[The urge to drink gets a bit stronger, so Billy takes another sip of his Arnold Palmer with some aggression.]

[Lucky, huh?]

...Yeah. It depends who you ask. My brothers still struggle with how it turned out sometimes.

But I feel I made the best choice I could when we confronted Him. And I have my brothers now, which matters more to me than His approval.

[Billy stares at Beel for a moment at this sort of story...brothers confronting a shitty dad together and coming out better from it, huh?

He's kind of jealous.]

Yep. Fuck the old man, I say. Who needs 'im?

[gluttoning]

Mn. Can't change the past.

[He just takes another chug from his glass. Defeats the purpose of the game, perhaps, but he still seems entirely sober. Talking about that conflict always made his stomach hurt.]

[He looks at the half-empty Arnold Palmer glass and shrugs.]

If I'm lucky, mine'll bite it faster. Ain't got much family around worth speakin' about.

[gluttoning]

[Ah, family drama drink time.]

Tension between you? Or are they just no longer around?

Either, or. Talkin' about who ain't around and why and who'd be better off not around gets to be a long dreary story, don't it?

[He gives a curt nod.]

Sometimes it's better to find the ones you can count on. What is it they say... "the blood of bonds is thicker than the water of the womb"?

[He lifts his glass slightly in agreement before taking another sip.]

...right. Somethin' like that. Genes ain't gonna tell ya who to trust like your gut and your brain'll do.

[Not that there's anything wrong with that. He is pro- gut trust.]
