As much as this vacation was unplanned, hopefully you've found some time to enjoy yourself this weekend as you've settled in. The idyllic beach, all inclusive food, drink, and shopping might be almost enough to distract you from that pesky talk of sacrifice. Vacations really are about letting your worries pass you by. Hopefully you've found the time to set up your U-PINION too, because if you haven't, it's been chirping incessantly since the date turned to Monday. And come Monday at noon, everyone's device will let out a pleasant jingle, heralding several announcements across the screen:

Happy Monday! We've hope you've been enjoying your time at Sungem's Peak. The Mermer (intranet) is now fully operational. Chat with your friends and get recommendations for how to best enjoy your vacation, by:

The artificial peppiness of the announcement just oozes out from the U-PINION, and soon thereafter everyone will be accosted by a friendly robot that forces a physical copy of the rules into their hands anyway. Just in case. They'll also present a copy of the tasks this week as well, for any interested parties.

[ Xiao is...here?? He's present, but not actively participating in anything. He's here to play bouncer, essentially, and he's keeping an eye out for any nasty fights that may break out. He doesn't trust people to keep it civil for the entire night.

Xiao can potentially be talked into playing party games, but if you'd rather not do that, he'll be chilling in a corner on his brick (phone). He will figure this stupid thing out someday.

That being said won't turn away anyone who wants to chat, and he may even lock eyes with people at random intervals. Something about his expression isn't as closed off as he wants it to be. ]

[ Oh look it's a wallflower. He'll just approach to nod at the brick. ]

Are you any good at the game that comes with it? [ Great Value! Flap Flap Bird ]

[plunges]

I have yet to try it.

[ He had no plans to, tbh. ]

I don't play games.

You should. It's a good way to keep up your hand and eye coordination.

[ He'll grab out his own shellphone to open up the flap flap bird app. He'll move to stand beside the other so he can see his screen. ]

It's all about timing.

[ Time to play flappy bird. Wang Lu will show him the start of it before the bird hits a pipe ]

[ He doesn't quite understand the game. The only thing that's clicking is that you tap your finger and keep the bird alive. ]

... You are so easily entertained.

[ He's not amused, but fine, he'll grab his own with a sigh. It takes him a moment, but he opens up the app and tries.

He fails miserably on his first go. ]

[ He'll watch him have a go. He'll wince as he fails. ]

That's not bad. [ Forget the face he made a moment ago ] It always takes a few tries to really get it.

[ Oh!! He didn't actually expect to see Xiao here, so don't mind Wei Wuxian approaching him soon after the party gets underway. ]

[ Don't mind him, he'll just eat that credit right up! ]

I'm glad it's helped you out. Is typing easier?

[ He gives Wei Wuxian a nod, puts his phone in his pocket.]

It's gotten better. You seem to have adjusted quickly.

I've had to adjust quickly to many things, so I'm used to it.

[ Ominous. But he smiles despite that. ]

That isn't to say that you taking longer is bad, though. I find that you're steadfast, which is an admirable trait that I think many of us here don't have.

[plunges]

[ Oh. That's a nice thing of him to say. Xiao doesn't look too fazed -- he's gotten his fair share of unnecessary praise over the several millennia he's been around. ]

There's no need to praise me for that. It's helped me survive for as long as I have.

[ ...Compliments are one of those "tasks" though, are they not? Normally he wouldn't pay them any mind, but the rarity of the reward piqued his interest, because he wants to learn what he can about this place. ]

Hmph. I suppose your ability to socialize and adapt has gotten you in others' good graces.

[ True enough... Xiao is a grandpa, after all.

But Wei Wuxian grins at the returned compliment, even if it's for the purposes of the task. ]

[Not that he's unhappy to see him! He just... seems like too much of a loner to show up, even if Kanon can be very pushy.]

I don't need to relax. My job is to stay vigilant for those who will not.

Not really.

[ He's used to hiding away, keeping himself out of the public eye and away from civilians. Only recently did he spend Lantern Rite with others; normally, he's alone, and out of the way. ]

It seems as though you are the same.

[ who knows what that means. regardless, she doesn't linger too long on it.

[ He listens, and while Xiao can't say he'd be the same, he can understand her desire to want to indulge. Not that he particularly feels those urges himself, but mortals tend to value relaxation. ]

Fair enough. I am also keeping an eye on the situation while things unfold.

I would like to think that no one would be foolish enough to attack anyone with all of us present.
