As much as this vacation was unplanned, hopefully you've found some time to enjoy yourself this weekend as you've settled in. The idyllic beach, all inclusive food, drink, and shopping might be almost enough to distract you from that pesky talk of sacrifice. Vacations really are about letting your worries pass you by. Hopefully you've found the time to set up your U-PINION too, because if you haven't, it's been chirping incessantly since the date turned to Monday. And come Monday at noon, everyone's device will let out a pleasant jingle, heralding several announcements across the screen:

Happy Monday! We've hope you've been enjoying your time at Sungem's Peak. The Mermer (intranet) is now fully operational. Chat with your friends and get recommendations for how to best enjoy your vacation, by:

• Reading about your fellow vacationers via their profile
• Chatting on the network
• Asking honest questions via our anonymous poll system
• REQUIRED: Reading the RULES set by the administrators

We're also happy to announce our reward system is live! Complete tasks to receive special items to improve your stay!!! Contact your administrators for any questions or concerns. We hope you have a wonderful week!

The artificial peppiness of the announcement just oozes out from the U-PINION, and soon thereafter everyone will be accosted by a friendly robot that forces a physical copy of the rules into their hands anyway. Just in case. They'll also present a copy of the tasks this week as well, for any interested parties.

So roses can be associated with secrets... I didn't know that.

There's a lot of interesting meanings ascribed to flowers all over the world. Maybe I should use those polls to ask everyone for examples from their worlds.

Oui! Roses have an entire language of their own, and as you said, all flowers do. Still, there is none more magnifique than the rose!

[And he'll gladly explain more if she does happen to put up a poll, but in the meantime...]

I'll tell you another phrase: Envoyer quelqu'un sur les roses. Sending someone roses is a euphémisme for getting rid of them. Roses may be beautiful, but they hide their sharp thorns quite well.

Oh, I know quite well. Having tended to my garden for years and years, I believe I have become rather familiar with the ways of the rose.

[Secrets often hide behind a smile, don't they? He's not particularly suspicious of Lacus' answer — everyone has a secret or two tucked up their sleeve — his own smile no less amicable.]

I can't say you're mistaken. At my core, I'd love nothing more than a quiet life with those I love.

Mr. Pink is not bound by the rules of politeness, no. I've tried scolding him about it, but he's quite insistent!

[No answer is an answer in itself, isn't it? What a curious woman... As for Mr. Pink, he's a fair bit less intriguing, but it might be fun to pick him apart and get a good look at how that speaker system of his works. Keep a sharp eye on your friend, Lacus!]

[Ah, but Mr. Pink's protests are just delightful to listen to! Lobelia wouldn't harm the poor, obnoxious thing knowing that it might complicate his living situation, buuuut he'll be dreaming of the day he can take the thing apart and see what makes it tick.]
