As much as this vacation was unplanned, hopefully you've found some time to enjoy yourself this weekend as you've settled in. The idyllic beach, all inclusive food, drink, and shopping might be almost enough to distract you from that pesky talk of sacrifice. Vacations really are about letting your worries pass you by. Hopefully you've found the time to set up your U-PINION too, because if you haven't, it's been chirping incessantly since the date turned to Monday. And come Monday at noon, everyone's device will let out a pleasant jingle, heralding several announcements across the screen:

Happy Monday! We've hope you've been enjoying your time at Sungem's Peak. The Mermer (intranet) is now fully operational. Chat with your friends and get recommendations for how to best enjoy your vacation, by:

• Reading about your fellow vacationers via their profile
• Chatting on the network
• Asking honest questions via our anonymous poll system
• REQUIRED: Reading the RULES set by the administrators

We're also happy to announce our reward system is live! Complete tasks to receive special items to improve your stay!!! Contact your administrators for any questions or concerns. We hope you have a wonderful week!

The artificial peppiness of the announcement just oozes out from the U-PINION, and soon thereafter everyone will be accosted by a friendly robot that forces a physical copy of the rules into their hands anyway. Just in case. They'll also present a copy of the tasks this week as well, for any interested parties.

Not always. But I don't think admitting defeat before we've even started will help in this case, either.

[You know what? He kind of enjoys the intensity of her cheer. It’s unrealistic. He likes that.]

And what about our game of sacrifices? [The great big elephant in the room.] How do you think this group’s likely to fare?

[ Ah... right. He was one of the ones voting on the "who dies first." ]

I know some people must have been scared at first. But it doesn't seem like anyone is desperate enough to go along with it. You think they will?

[skyworp]

I think all anyone needs is an excuse.

[chrysaline]

Are you pleased about that? Now, and on the device, I wondered... you sound like it has nothing to do with you.

Well -

[Skywarp disappears then re—appears at Psyche’s side with a WORP and a grin.]

I don’t have much to worry about. And I don’t plan on playing along.

[WORP - and he’s back where he was initially.]

All that leaves is sitting and watching the chaos unfold. With this group - that’ll be very entertaining, don’t you think?

[ WORP gets another gasp -- drat him -- and she startles back a little. How long will it be before that stops being surprising?

By the time he's back where he started she almost has her expression composed again. ]

I'm sorry that I have to hope you're disappointed. It doesn't sound entertaining to me at all. But... I'm happy you aren't planning to be part of it, at least.

Of course, if someone tries anything on me I’ll be inclined to make a mess of them. But why don’t you hope it doesn’t come to that?

[ If someone tries anything first... hm. ]

I will. I really hope no one is foolish enough to start anything senseless like that.

[skyworp]

But others can be so foolish, can’t they?

[chrysaline]

Everyone can be. But they can also be very brave. Lord Skywarp, are you trying to see if I'll get upset?

[skyworp]

[He relaxes his head to one side, grinning.]

Not at all. We’re just having conversation. You say your piece and I say mine. It’s just that we’re oh so very different.

[chrysaline]

That's true. You know... I think you remind me of my fiancé, if he were a bit more honest.

[ And with that extremely ambiguous statement, she grins back a little in return. ]

Maybe that means we can both learn something from each other.

[skyworp]

[Lacking the exact wording of “fiancé” in his culture, the full meaning of that statement passes him by.]

Maybe we can. [He seems amused at the prospect, not taking it too seriously.] Maybe we won’t. We’ll just have to see, won’t we?

[chrysaline]

[ He gets a little curtsy that's in no way made ridiculous by the tropical shirt and capris, shh, before she takes her leave. ]
