As much as this vacation was unplanned, hopefully you've found some time to enjoy yourself this weekend as you've settled in. The idyllic beach, all inclusive food, drink, and shopping might be almost enough to distract you from that pesky talk of sacrifice. Vacations really are about letting your worries pass you by. Hopefully you've found the time to set up your U-PINION too, because if you haven't, it's been chirping incessantly since the date turned to Monday. And come Monday at noon, everyone's device will let out a pleasant jingle, heralding several announcements across the screen:

Happy Monday! We've hope you've been enjoying your time at Sungem's Peak. The Mermer (intranet) is now fully operational. Chat with your friends and get recommendations for how to best enjoy your vacation, by:

• Reading about your fellow vacationers via their profile
• Chatting on the network
• Asking honest questions via our anonymous poll system
• REQUIRED: Reading the RULES set by the administrators

The artificial peppiness of the announcement just oozes out from the U-PINION, and soon thereafter everyone will be accosted by a friendly robot that forces a physical copy of the rules into their hands anyway. Just in case. They'll also present a copy of the tasks this week as well, for any interested parties.

((OOC: Welcome to Week 1! This is a peace week, so they'll be no case this weekend. However, we have something for you to chew on Saturday, time to be announced later in discord.

[ Crea does have a rather tall figure so one might say to expect greatness from someone of such a height, but appearances aren't everything. ]

So, you both were adventurers and heroes, hmm? It must have been tough, though it clearly sounds like it was worth the effort. But, I do hope it was for a good reason you guys had to stop doing any of that.

...Say, what kind of job are you and your friend up to, anyway? Before we came here, of course.

[ He asks, watching as Crea looks closely at another herb. He idly wonders if anyone is going to put some herbs from the garden in their food at some point... ]

[ there’s a long pause after merlin asks about his and his friend’s current life. he stares at the herbs for a while longer, until he turns back around, his expression just a bit more neutral. ]

The thing about being a hero is that it’s not like in the stories. Not for us, at least. We weren’t received with praise or appreciation, but instead seen as the remnants of the Calamity’s destruction and persecuted as such. Sion took it the hardest out of the two of us and fell into a deep depression…

[ … ]

So when this sketchy guy came in asking for Sion’s help… well, he didn’t want to at first, but eventually he was convinced. This guy’s just looking to destroy worlds for some pointless cause and Sion follows what he says because he probably doesn’t see any other option.

[ he shrugs. ]

It’s not a good job. Definitely not honorable. But I can’t leave Sion alone with such an asshole, so I stick around in hopes of finding someone powerful enough to defeat our Boss and save Sion.

[ It certainly isn't.

Those first words make him flash easily back to Artoria. But it goes as soon as it comes as he listens to Crea speak about the rest. Life can certainly be twisted, can't it? ]

People can be awfully selfish and ungrateful.

[ He states neutrally. People like that, who would blame those who make such great sacrifices, they can be some of the worst, deserving of resentment. ]

Mm, what a tough situation to be in, and I suppose you already must have tried to convince himself otherwise. But, good luck to things working out; the world is a vast place, so there will always be someone who rises up to defeat a threat. [ Or try to. ] What sort of pointless cause is this so-called world destroyer going for, anyway?

[ That said, some people might say that Crea shouldn't stick by Sion's side. But, the straightforward approach isn't always viable. ]

Difficult for them not to blame us. The Calamity did raze the world— we were easy scapegoats in his absence.

[ not that it makes it any more right. crea laughs mirthlessly, his gaze focused on the flowers. ]

The boss says that he wants to bring “true equality” by making everyone equally miserable. [ he shakes his head. ] It sounds stupid to say, but the truth is that he has the power to make it a reality. We go to a world or a timeline, he razes it, and then we go to the next. No one can really fight back against him on their own.

Hmm. Well, it's true. It's part of people's natures to put the blame on something or someone they can actually feel good about using as a scapegoat.

[ He feels disinclined to argue about that, but at the same time does a little. ]

This boss of yours has time and world hopping powers? Sheesh, what a pain. No wonder nobody can take him by themselves! It'd be a death wish when you're going up against someone that strong.

...Not that I don't think it's impossible, but you know.

He's basically like a god. And while I can counter some of his magic, I'm sure that he would eventually overpower me.

[ and considering sion's opinion, there's unfortunately little chance that he would get the support from his friend. if the thought of that stings, then he doesn't show it. ]

It's tough, but you're right, it's not impossible. [ he nods, a small smile appearing on his expression. ] The good thing about jumping through worlds is that you can see an infinite amount of possibilities. In other words, I think I was able to find people that I could ask for help and actually stand a chance at defeating the Boss. So... maybe things are looking up.

[ well, before he was forcibly transported to have a vacation. ]

Yikes! How'd a guy like that become so powerful?

[ Some people really are just born that way. He wonders what Sion might think of when the boss guy is defeated, but he figures that it is very much a "cross the bridge when they get there" kind of situation. ]

But, what good news! I'd call that looking up. Obvious interferences aside, but looking on the bright side from time to time doesn't hurt much.

[ And nothing particularly bad has happened to them yet! Mayhaps they can soon find a way out of this, than it being later, is the implication. ]
