As much as this vacation was unplanned, hopefully you've found some time to enjoy yourself this weekend as you've settled in. The idyllic beach, all inclusive food, drink, and shopping might be almost enough to distract you from that pesky talk of sacrifice. Vacations really are about letting your worries pass you by. Hopefully you've found the time to set up your U-PINION too, because if you haven't, it's been chirping incessantly since the date turned to Monday. And come Monday at noon, everyone's device will let out a pleasant jingle, heralding several announcements across the screen:

Happy Monday! We've hope you've been enjoying your time at Sungem's Peak. The Mermer (intranet) is now fully operational. Chat with your friends and get recommendations for how to best enjoy your vacation, by:

• Reading about your fellow vacationers via their profile
• Chatting on the network
• Asking honest questions via our anonymous poll system
• REQUIRED: Reading the RULES set by the administrators

The artificial peppiness of the announcement just oozes out from the U-PINION, and soon thereafter everyone will be accosted by a friendly robot that forces a physical copy of the rules into their hands anyway. Just in case. They'll also present a copy of the tasks this week as well, for any interested parties.

A capitol city near the coast... Très bien! You must have had a wonderful view of the ocean from such a city. Still, it's a shame we can't travel freely to one another's homes while we remain trapped on this island. How are the beaches in Vasilios?

I've only been once, so I'm not sure how they compare. But I thought they were beautiful. They make a kind of deep blue glass there that's almost the same color as the sea. Once we figure out how to leave, I'm sure you're very welcome to visit!

Even if people don't have any intentions to get close to each other or taking advantage of the information, distractions are valuable for being exactly that too. Some people can make up their own. Always.

Mostly annoying. Asking for a pact is a big deal. Besides, he already has plenty.

You'd think so. But I think his cooking is just cursed. It's always bad, no matter what other people try. I wouldn't be surprised if he's killed people on accident. Or on purpose.

[He shudders visibly. Ugh. No need to think about that any further.]

Huh? Oh. Yeah, the buffet's great. They always keep the cheeseburgers nice and hot.

[Well, Friday sure is off to a spooky start… that may get even spookier with the message Haruka sends out a little while after the birds start peacing out!]

harui: so things are pretty spooky and quiet right now
harui: which is probably a bad sign but you don’t need me to tell you that
harui: and maybe this is cringe but i don’t care if you think so
harui: lacus and i are going to do a small performance on the beach
harui: nothing fancy

[And true to his word, there’s a performance! They didn’t have much time to practice a ton of songs or write anything new, but neither of them are strangers at performance which greatly cuts down on any nerves. All they need to do is sing and maybe it’ll be a welcome distraction from the unsettling emptiness sweeping over the island and the awful malaise.

They’ve chosen to do a duet that Haruka is familiar with, deciding it would be easier then breaking down any of their other songs in the short time they have, but Lacus is a quick learner. It’s not a flashy performance, with no stage and glittering lights and fancy costumes, but the idols are doing their best to make up for what they don’t have. They did coordinate, at least, grabbing outfits from the boutique in a matching sky blue that compliments both of their hair colors without clashing too terribly.

Now everyone clap for Lacus, or Haruka will pitch a fit.]

[ There is something to be said for being a professionally trained singer. Able to project their voices and exaggerate their movements just right, the two of them can make at least a bit of that idol sparkle appear from thin air, even a capella.

Once the song is done, Lacus is just going to add one simple statement. ]

Our environment has finally started to match the threatening nature of our situation, but please do not lose heart.

[plunges]

[ Still feels weird to join in, though, but...this may be the last chance they have to do something like this.

[ For someone from ye olde sword fantasy genre, he's holding up his phone as a light and waving it back and forth like you would at a concert.

Ah, I see! The layers add the fluff that the feathers of a swan has in the back. You have a good eye for this sort of thing.

[ And he follows along closely, his meticulousness shining though as he very carefully and very deliberately follows Zelkov's movements. As a result, it means his swan is pretty decent... though it doesn't hold a candle to Zelkov's. ]
