INVESTIGATION

Good morning, sunshines, sungems, and wild partiers of the night! No matter what kind of night you had, you'll find yourself awakening to an energetic tune blasting out from the island speaker system, one that more than a few of you will recognize -- you won't be able to escape it, but why would you want to?

Music is a great way to start your day, and surely, this is a great omen for Fridays at this resort. There's at least one reason to get up dancing, as the wings of the warp phenomenon have vanished with the morning mist and the sea breeze; Kingfisher's Retreat boasts a beautiful, uninterrupted waterfall that reflects the morning sun once more, and the waves at Sungem's Peak are largely peaceful. Even the customary burst of sound and pressure was a little mollified by the addition of the new soundtrack. You know what that means by now, but hopefully the music will add a pep in your step.

okay no fine. to clarify, is this just the little shoreline/beachline in front of/around the cafe, or is this the main beach over in front of the resort? either way he sighs a little sigh before making his way over.

and ... is it just the beach? like a tiny little localized hurricane only just hit this one specific part of the island, or is there some general wind-blownness all around, and it's just the beach that really got mcfucked™ up? ]

So the general mess that the Beach is actually affects both beach and some of the shoreline—we can go over this in investigation proper but it's like a line of disaster from the main resort, along the shoreline, to the railway that leaves the island. As far as damage it's definitely in the mcfucked™ category. ]

Geez, these poor catbots just can't catch a break, huh...

[ island rail mcfuckery is apparently two for two in the past two weeks, wooo.

time to putter around up and down the shoreline getting an idea how how far this hurricane hit and how far inland it got until investigation proper, apparently! ]

As Magolor approaches the beach area by the resort he'll see something in the sand. It's human shaped and face down in the sand... ]

[...And if he's not careful, he'll trip right over Lobelia! Mon dieu!

Lobelia slowly extricates himself from the sand and heaves a casual yawn, rubbing the back of his head and gazing up at Magolor. Just gonna delicately spit all this sand out of his mouth.........]

Ah, so it's you who has disturbed my nap! Bonjour, Monsieur Magolor!

[ hmm. ]

... I didn't know there were three of you!

Anyway, good morning and all that. [ beat. ] Do you also eat tongs and cutlery?

[ was there like, a trail leading here, or did Lobelia just actually pass out face first in the sand all night without suffocating. ]

[conchy]

Hm? Three of moi...?

[Is this gaslighting??? Lobelia sits up crosslegged and sweeps the sand off his skin, looking around.]

I fail to see what you mean, Monsieur, but I can assure you there is only one of me! Ah... but perhaps you should get your head checked. Cutlery is for dining with, not dining on.

[...Casually spits out more sand, it's fine...]

Three of you sand eaters! Like Beelzebub and Nona I think? Unless you didn't mean to end up face down in the sand here?

[ surely Lobelia is fine if he can hold a conversation. just keep spitting it out. ]

Anyway, you might want to tell that to some other folks! I asked about cutlery because there was that chat earlier in the week where poor Crea had to realize that he's staying with not one but two people who eat the serving utensils.

Haha! Unlike those two, I don't make a habit of ingesting strange things.

Mm, my goodness, what a strange phénomènes... You would think they'd be easy to spot with forks and knives protruding from their bellies, non?

[ anyway look, he's going to pull out his not-phone and show lobelia this discussion from earlier in the week. behold, knife eaters.

[Ah, so that's how it is. Scanning through their conversation, Lobelia tips back and laughs.]

Heheh! Merveilleux! They truly are peculiar, those two, [what room does lobelia have to speak,] but I suppose we'd all better keep an eye on the silverware if we don't want to eat all of our meals with tridents.

[idologue]

[ Actually I am retconning Lacus going to the other island bc she would have presumably seen this and just.

Stopped dead in her tracks.

A little distance away.

Breathing.

It's gonna take one second for her to let go of Zelkov's hand here. ]

[Ah... He hadn't intended to concern anyone, much less considered that someone might worry over his whereabouts, so when Lacus comes running, Lobelia can't help but feel a pang of guilt in his chest. Rising to his feet, he'll step forward, meeting her halfway.]

Bonjour, Chère. You seem to be in quite the panic.

[idologue]

[ Lacus has caught herself by the time they're properly in front of one another. Her posture no longer betrays the vise grip she's just had on Zelkov's hand. ]

Good morning, monsieur.

[ Panic? It's fine, she's fine. ]

Waking to find the island in such disarray was certainly concerning... I am glad to see you merely enjoyed nature tonight.

[conchy]

[He admires her strong efforts to pull herself together, but it's obvious to Lobelia that he'd inadvertently given Lacus a fright. He extends his hand to her palm side up, and should she take it, he'll guide her into a gentle embrace.]

Naturellement. We've spoken of my fondness for the beach, haven't we? I find little more soothing than the crashing of the waves. In the midst of such incertitude, I find familiar sounds comforting.

Regardless, I must apologize for worrying you. Je suis désolé.

[idologue]

It was not your intention.

[ After just one moment of hesitation, she takes his hand and lets herself fall against his chest. It's the kind of display she would hesitate to give in public, but she believes that only people to see her here are Lobelia and Zelkov, and if there's anybody she trusts with this it's them. (Temenos is also here, but she has not spotted him... Oops.)

Face pressed into his shirt, it's easy to let her smile fall. Someone still died, and there are many thoughts running through her head regarding this. It will be another long day.

For a moment she just silently stays like this, and when she draws away the last of her frazzled appearance has vanished. ]

Well. It seems we have another trial to prepare for. What sorrowful ends to our weeks.

[ well, he's obviously not going to try to hold her back in this situation. when she chooses to let go of his hand, that's that; he'll let her go do whatever she feels she needs to.

he does not seem to share any of her relief, though. ]

[ Lacus shoots Zelkov a look before stepping forward to greet Lobelia. It's not clear if her expression is meant as apologetic or merely still concerned. ]

[Once Temenos makes it out of the spa, he begins his investigation and spots all of this commotion along the way. Lobelia getting up out of the sand and Lacus running over...

He's not quite sure what happened, but it seems as though all is well(?)

If Lobelia happens to catch sight of him surveying the scene, he's standing back with his arms crossed and...well, he definitely doesn't look disappointed to see Lobelia made it through the night, at least.]

Bonjour, Père! Were you also worried about moi?

[How nice! Sure, it's really only Lacus that's concerned, but Lobelia isn't stressing the details. Look at all these friendly faces circling him...]

Ah, but what are you doing way over there? Do you fear for the fortitude of your pants? I promise not to play another prank on you!

[dupiety]

[He cares a little more than he'd like to show...or admit, for that matter.

But with a roll of his eyes, he'll approach.]

That wasn't my concern. [But thanks for bringing that up again, dick.] I didn't want to interrupt.

What happened, exactly? You hardly seem worse for wear.

[conchy]

[Ah, Daddy...! He loves you too, Temenos. No matter what Temenos says, Lobelia is inclined to think the man cares about him to some degree or another since he keeps flitting about him like a moth circling a flame. Losing his towel in the bath was clearly not enough of a burn.]

It's as you see: I was taking a nap on the beach! Still, ah... I don't recall falling asleep face down. It's a wonder I didn't suffoquer!

Oh dear, that sounds dreadfully uncomfortable. [There's a teasing lilt to that, because...] I would know- it happened to me last week.
