Good morning, sunshines, sungems, and wild partiers of the night! No matter what kind of night you had, you'll find yourself awakening to an energetic tune blasting out from the island speaker system, one that more than a few of you will recognize -- you won't be able to escape it, but why would you want to?

Music is a great way to start your day, and surely, this is a great omen for Fridays at this resort. There's at least one reason to get up dancing, as the wings of the warp phenomenon have vanished with the morning mist and the sea breeze; Kingfisher's Retreat boasts a beautiful, uninterrupted waterfall that reflects the morning sun once more, and the waves at Sungem's Peak are largely peaceful. Even the customary burst of sound and pressure was a little mollified by the addition of the new soundtrack. You know what that means by now, but hopefully the music will add a pep in your step.

Oh dear, that sounds dreadfully uncomfortable. [There's a teasing lilt to that, because...] I would know- it happened to me last week.

Were you merely lounging out here again last night?

[Lobelia nods, casting his gaze out across the sandy stretch. So many craters... but at least his beloved conch shells still dot the isle.]

Oui. I was feeling a bit homesick, so I decided to lull myself to sleep with the sound of the waves. It seems I was fortunate to wake with the living!

[Temenos follows Lobelia's gaze...only to notice the craters for himself. His eyebrows raise considerably. The fuck happened here.]

I would be surprised to discover that whatever happened here isn't what caused your near-death experience.

[After some thought...]

I presume I can count on your aid with the inevitable trial once more?

[conchy]

Heheh! It's not yet my time to return to heaven!

[Hm. Hmm. Anyway, Lobelia eagerly nods.]

As always, you can count on me to lend you my compétence! We'll both delight in this little game of chat et souris, non?

[..........wait. What?

Temenos turns to face him.]

Yes, I'm sure we will. But what did you mean by "return to heaven"?

[He's ready to dismiss a lot of the things Lobelia says as a joke, but that sticks out. For one thing, there is no way Lobelia would end up anywhere near heaven, but that part is beside the point.]

Hm?

[Confusion crosses Lobelia's face for a moment, and only a moment. Temenos really is confused, isn't he...?]

Retourner à la maison. Rejoining my family where they wait for me. Surely a man as pious as you is familiar with the concept of the afterlife?

...I am familiar.

[That's part of the issue. Though Lobelia may speak of it so easily, this has clearly thrown Temenos off in a way that he likely hasn't seen.]

Are you truly saying that you perished before you woke up here?

[conchy]

[Ah, so that's where the confusion is. For a moment there, Lobelia thought dear old Daddy was doubting that he'd go to heaven along with his parents. Where else would a good boy like him go, huh?]

Mm, non, I believe there's been a misunderstanding. What I mean is that it is not yet my time to die, which is why I remain here in one piece before you today. My Maman and Papa await me in the afterlife, but they've got a while to wait yet!

[Temenos breathes out a laugh once Lobelia clears things up.]

I see. Dear me, isn't this embarrassing? Clearly I have spent far too long digging into the deeper meanings of others' statements.

[He has a feeling Lobelia's parents will be waiting a long, long time for their son, though. Not that Temenos can talk, of course. He'd be surprised if he didn't end up in hell.]

[conchy]

Heheh! That's our Père. You're already this excited and eager to play, aren't you?

[No baddie in their right mind would ever dream of getting away from Temenos. As far as Lobelia sees it, tomorrow's trial should be a breeze.]

Just be sure to save some of that fun for me.

Heh. So it would seem.

[He can admit that much to Lobelia. This case... It certainly seems like it's going to be Something.]

I look forward to seeing what you can bring to the table this time.

Oui! We'll both be looking forward to it, won't we?

[Ah, but one last thing before he turns to leave—]
