INVESTIGATION(?)

Exciting night, no? Were you able to get to sleep, or did you stay up into the wee hours, seeing that far-off shimmer near the gazebos and listening to the rising rumble of whatever-that-is and wondering when it would come for you?

At least, when dawn finally comes and the shimmer is overcome by the rising light of the sun, it seems that last night wasn't the end. For you.

Instead, once it's morning proper, there's a shift -- like the breeze and the smell after a bout of sudden summer thunderstorm without the storm: the pressure and the oppressive atmosphere of yesterday is gone, just like that. But also: accompanying it a few seconds later is a clean whipcrack of sound, like giant hands clapping together. And a moment after that, you'll feel something pass overhead -- you won't be able to see anything, but anyone outside at the time will find themselves staggered by what seems to be a small shockwave spreading throughout the island.

That's not the only change that awaits you this morning, however.

You might want to get out of bed, if you haven't already, and take a proper look around.

Did he say anything elucidating of note? I feel as though most of my conversation have been pleasantries and gossip thus far.

While there was some of that, there was mention of testing spells out to see if there's a way to prevent what might be awaiting us.

You don't suppose he got overeager and his testing went awry? That would be a little embarrassing.

He did seem to be rather proud of his magical prowess.

So am I, but you won't catch me promising a payment I can't cash, as it were.

I think it more likely someone took note of his boasting. [Someone who thought the island imminently needed feeding...]

You would be surprised by how many do.

But according to others who knew him better than I did, that didn't appear to be the case for him.

I don't overeager really applies to him.
He's much more intelligent than that and I would be disappointed if he played around without me.
We won't know for sure until after the others finish checking the garden though.

Most adept magickers would know to only trifle with what they can handle. I'll give him the courtesy of taking your word for it.
