TRIAL

You all know the drill by now even if things are a little different today, with the two deceased and the shuffling of the announcements. Things are much the same at the sandbar though, kittybots setting out seafood as the theme for this week, along with every flavor of mountain dew under the sun, including the energy drink kind. (food mod note: this is actually on brand MTN dew for once!).

Off to the side in a booth of their own are the bodies as well as attendant kittybots; simply request which body you'd like to look at and the kitty bots will direct you appropriately, as if it's difficult to tell the difference between a squid and a giant robot. Maybe they're just there trying to be helpful, they're doing their best. .

Beach; Kallamar’s Body

I examined our friend Kallamar’s body where it was on the beach. He was originally found in the water and was quite damaged.

One of the more noticeable wounds and the cause of death was the hole in his head, evident by the signs of blood that wasn’t washed away by the water. There were plenty of wounds that don’t look to have bled much as well, so whoever did this must have expended quite a bit of energy after he was deceased. The harpoon sticking out of the left side of his chest is also worthy to note; I believe this must have been what caused the majority of the wounds. Oddly enough, he smelled strongly of a high proof liquor despite being in the sea.

His left arm was missing and the site was not clean—- the arm showed signs of multiple stabs to sever his hand off, with more damage to the surrounding areas as well. There were gold shards that were also on his left side, more concentrated by the arm and radiating outward. Some of the stab wounds also had gold shards inside of them, as though they were pushed into the wound with the weapon.

His right side was also riddled with metal, but this was gray, not gold. It was also fairly radial in pattern, centered on his head and upper half. Both types of shard were the actual metal and not painted, and they were not shavings either but actual shards.

Lastly, Kallamar’s legs and clothing were concealing thick, sturdy, curved glass shards and sand. The pieces are here [Baizhu reveals a piece of cloth folded around the glass he brought with him before continuing] but they’re rather small to identify what they’re from.

Hm. High proof liquor and glass. Sounds like a molotov cocktail went off near him, but coulda been a dud? If it'd gone off as planned, Kallamar woulda been a lot crispier.

I can confirm there were no signs of burning on the body, and the glass shards he had were concealed in his tentacles.

Hm. So the question of the hour's if Kallamar was tryin' to light someone up. He was a jumpy kind of bloke, so wouldn't be shocked if he armed himself. But 'molotov cocktail' ain't me own first thought for a self-defense weapon.

He wasn't very big. For as much as he talked, he didn't seem very strong, either.

Having something explosive might make sense to give him an advantage. But I don't know if that's something he would know how to make.

He said he was lookin' for some kinda crown when we first popped up here. Apparently he's neutered without the thing.

Ain't got enough clue about where he's from to guess either, but booze bein' flammable might be common enough knowledge?

I thought he was from somewhere similar to me from how he talked about things, but he was insistent I was wrong. So I never pushed it.

He was always kind of a coward. I don't know if it being flammable would be enough for him unless he was panicked. But I didn't know him well.

A crown?

Was the crown Skywarp is wearing from around here or was it a task reward? If it was Kallamar's, he might have seen it as worth fighting for.

It wasn't his. He didn't want it when Wang Lu offered it earlier this week.

He made a request for gold objects from Mags and I previously. I wonder if he found something then?

Perhaps… the gold was in fragments, but so were some other metals.

Those are curious. I wonder if someone added the fragments to the molotov cocktails?

Pretty much! We should look for any bits of metal embedded in people's skin. [ A look over to Temenos ]

Hey, dear! We might need a thorough strip check.

You did say it would be a moment of growth for him...

But no, I shall do it. I will ask for volunteers so everyone's comfort is satisfied, however.

It could be, both kinds of shards were heavier in one section and as they went further away from that part they spread out. An explosion could very well cause that kind of damage.

Let me go take a look at the body.

Before you go, Kallamar did not have evidence of any burns on him even though he must have been covered [soaked?] in liquor. Is there a fireless way to set off that kind of glass shrapnel bomb…? Or if one could have just been broken next to him? The metal shards were not imbedded very deep.

Oh, that sounds like the same gold and gray that I found further up the beach. Were you able to tell where they came from?

I know they were pushed into the stab wounds, not broken off of the murder weapon, but thats all I know of them. They also weren’t shaved from a larger piece of metal, like what might be a byproduct of crafting something.
