TRIAL

You all know the drill by now even if things are a little different today, with the two deceased and the shuffling of the announcements. Things are much the same at the sandbar though, kittybots setting out seafood as the theme for this week, along with every flavor of mountain dew under the sun, including the energy drink kind. (food mod note: this is actually on brand MTN dew for once!).

Off to the side in a booth of their own are the bodies as well as attendant kittybots; simply request which body you'd like to look at and the kitty bots will direct you appropriately, as if it's difficult to tell the difference between a squid and a giant robot. Maybe they're just there trying to be helpful, they're doing their best. .

Waterfall part 1

Beelzebub and I investigated the waterfall on Kingfisher's Retreat.

We awoke to find ourselves among scattered debris from the rock face and crystal pool of the waterfall, and a acrid scent of mechanical oil in the air. At the base of the waterfall was an erratic pattern of large footprints that no doubt belonged to Skywarp. They were centralized in one area and did not lead to anywhere, almost as if making a single even larger print in their wake. Among these footprints were splatters of a blue oily substance that I would attribute to Skywarp's "blood."

In addition to all of that, I found Skywarp's remaining foot on the roof of the refreshment hut. It looked as though it had fallen onto it and it contained several diagonal slash marks on it. As for how it became detached in the first place, it seems as though it had been removed with some force, but not enough to have been simply ripped off.

Waterfall part 2

[Nodding. Temenos still has Beelzebub's signature jacket with the fur neck lining on, so Beel's just rocking a tee-shirt and still looking a little.... soggy? Though he has a towel and seems to be doing a very minor wind spell to try and dry himself off as Temenos speaks.]

Mn. There were blunted harpoons down in the pool at the bottom of the waterfall. Looked like the ones Skywarp was using for his missing foot. There was also a lot of bits of metal in the sand. Mostly silver, some of them were dark blue, but they were tiny.

There was a lot of damage to the rocks all the way up the waterfall. Scorch marks, holes, and just blunt force damage, with a lot of debris. There was more damage at the jump point at the top then there was at the bottom. I have pictures, if people need to see it. [On his D.D.D., too, so congrats on ~nice quality~]

Some of that blue liquid was up at the top, but it wasn't nearly as much as there was at the bottom of the falls. The smell wasn't as strong, either.

There was a U-PINION up at the top as well. I got a picture of that too. It was in really bad shape, though. I couldn't even turn it on, so I don't know whose it was.

So Skywarp's nightly escapade appears to have started with a fight at the top of the waterfall, resulting in him getting injured and falling to the bottom.

But we don't know whether he died there or... somehow dragged his own mortally wounded body around to stage the pose of his death.

[ Which seems far-fetched, but like, it's Skywarp. ]

I didn't see any marks that looked like anything had been dragged through there. I'm not sure if that would be right.

So he presumably still left on his leg stumps? Or he was carried somehow.

He would have had to have stopped the bleeding, unless he used one of those portals so he wouldn't have to walk.

I did not find any drag marks or tracks, simply the smattering of blood and footprints as if he was...hopping, perhaps?

He did have the ability to transport himself via warping and portals, though I do not know the exact range of how far he could travel.

Yes... I think the most plausible theory would be that he used one of his portals to transport himself there.

No, if he warped at all I definitely don't think it was all the way to the theater.

I don't suppose we're fortunate enough that someone just happens to be missing their U-PINION today?

I had the same thought.

Indeed. Even if, as Beel suggests, the one we found was Skywarp's...the killer's may have been damaged during the show.

With the scorch marks we've found? I think it's certainly possible.

Chances of anyone missing theirs are slim, but we cannot rule out the possibility, either.

You're right. We'd look like imbeciles if we overlooked such a simple giveaway.

Nothing is too easy under these circumstances, dear Waltaquin.

With sacrifices such as these, I'm inclined to agree.

It could have been Skywarp's, too. It doesn't sound like anyone found one on him at the theater.

I had wondered how he carried it around in the first place. Perhaps his body had a compartment for it...?

[He did see Skywarp wearing actual clothes on occasion, but like...]

Is there a way to check what's a compartment and what's just... uh. Him?

It is also possible that they traded their own broken one for his after the fact. We should check the contents of each person's device to verify its ownership, rather than just accepting its presence as proof of innocence.

That is true. Do we know where he kept his...effects?
