Good morning, sunshines, sungems, and wild partiers of the night! No matter what kind of night you had, you'll find yourself awakening to an energetic tune blasting out from the island speaker system, one that more than a few of you will recognize -- you won't be able to escape it, but why would you want to?

Music is a great way to start your day, and surely, this is a great omen for Fridays at this resort. There's at least one reason to get up dancing, as the wings of the warp phenomenon have vanished with the morning mist and the sea breeze; Kingfisher's Retreat boasts a beautiful, uninterrupted waterfall that reflects the morning sun once more, and the waves at Sungem's Peak are largely peaceful. Even the customary burst of sound and pressure was a little mollified by the addition of the new soundtrack. You know what that means by now, but hopefully the music will add a pep in your step.

[I believe Shuda called dibs on the body, but surely there are some other things to look at around here?

Starting with those blood trails, maybe? Let's get a closer look at that.

(I may need a third person to hop in in a little bit too bc if I don't get a nap in before raid it's over for me.)]

[There's certainly a lot to look at, since the devastation at the tracks sure is a thing.

The blood trails here are actually... not too substantial -- if Waltaquinn is starting at the body, she'll find both some winding trails of blood in droplets that seem to get slightly bigger leading out of (or into) the go-kart area, and one straighter trail of blood droplets.

The latter is visible until about 20 feet out from the body and then vanishes.]

[She thinks she may have figured out the camera function enough to get the most rudimentary of images, so she snaps them. Just to be clear, the straight trail and the winding trail don't appear to intersect or connect and are separate, yes?

There's so much destruction here...it's really monumental. Coming closer to the places where the track has been uprooted and ripped apart, can she take a closer look at that mess? For starters, How big are the pieces that are missing? and Is there any noticeable mark or residue where they've been ripped up, like a scorch mark or idk blade scar?]

[They're separate, though they are roughly in the same direction -- namely, leading more or less towards the railway that connects to the main island.

On her tour of the track, she'll notice that the gouged out parts of the track are roughly 10-30 feet in diameter, a variety of sizes, but there are also no noticeable marks or residue. Also, there are a variety of small craters interspersed with all this destruction. On top of all that, the messy trail intersects with and occasionally lines up with the winding blood trails.

While she's intent on all this, she may also notice something glinting out of the corner of her eye.]

[A glint? Indeed that does catch her eye. Where's this shining thing coming from relative to everything else? But more importantly, what is it]

[What do we have here?

It's... a knife! Specifically one that's just about as bloody and messy as Vergilius is, yikes. Looks like it was just dropped on the ground.]

[Well, Quin doesn't know about modern day forensics or anything, but she figures we probably don't want to go smudging around all of the blood and leave a trail that isn't related to this, so she'll try and find a good way to pick it up or at the very least get a closer look at it.]

... Is it uh. Is it a butter knife?]

[It is not a butter knife, but a proper kitchen knife.

..... Well, not so proper anymore. She. Will probably need something to pick it up with, given that not only is it covered in blood but there's definitely still organic tissue stuck to it too...]

[Ghastly... Super intriguing.

She will once again be forced to used some spare cloth, but at least it's better than nothing. She has. Seen her fair share of internal body parts, so is it possible for her to make an estimated guess here? Bone? Muscle? Organ tissue?]

[Since he's already here (and Vergilius was one of the closest things he would consider to a friend in this place), he's going to take point on the body investigation.

To start with, where does it look like all of that blood was coming from? What sort of injuries are we talking about here?]

[Well, to start with, there’s no immediately visible wounds — especially since the go-kart is still presiding over the proceedings, so you’ll likely need to move that first! That, and there’s blood literally all over him, even if it’s drying.

That said, other things you’ll notice: bruises, also all over, though it’s hard to tell how many exactly and their whole appearance under the blood. Did we mention there’s blood? Moreover, Vergilius’ shirt is all buttoned up, so you can only see what his tropical modesty deigns to reveal.]

[Good thing he is strong enough that moving the go-kart is not a significant issue! He'll just shift it off to the side to potentially take a look at later.

Also sorry Vergilius, he is going to ruin your modesty by unbuttoning that... very interesting shirt to get a better look at his torso to see if he can see where that blood is coming from. He'll try to clean that off to get a better look at the bruises in just a bit.]

[Shifting that kart will get him a clue as well: namely, that there's some crunching going on in that body. The bones are not happy.

As he's unbuttoning the shirt, he'll notice that though there's blood splattered on it as well, there's one region that seems more bloodsoaked than the rest -- namely, his chest area. And once that shirt's open, Shuda will know exactly why: there's a gaping hole in Vergilius' chest where his heart should be, sprinkled liberally with what look like shards of crushed bone.

After all of that, he'll also notice that there's a concentration of bruises on the side where this mess is located (unsurprisingly), though it's still hard to see with the blood covering everything.]

[... wow that sure is Vergilius' ENTIRE HEART MISSING THERE, that's great. Okay. The immediate cause of death is pretty obvious, so he's going to go grab the nearest thing that can be used as a container to fill with water so that he can try to wash some of that blood off and get a better look at the bruising underneath all of that blood.]

[Well, as Shuda wipes some of the blood away... it'll become quite obvious that there's not much of Vergilius' body that isn't covered in bruises. We're talking arms, torso, legs... The worst of it looks to be on the torso and hands, though there are some gnarly ones on the upper thighs and we're assuming he's still face-up for this. All of the marks are consistent with the result of blunt force trauma.

Also, he'll notice that while most of the blood patterns are consistent with it being splattered or splashed over the body, there's obviously a great deal that flowed from the chest but also more blood on the sides of his head.]

[Time to take a closer look at his head! Shuda used to be a bounty hunter, he knows a whole lot about injuries and he knows that head wounds bleed like crazy even if they aren't very serious. So what sort of wounds are we talking about on the head here?]

[With the blood cleared away he'll be able to notice discoloration around the ears, and if he checks the rest of the head, there will be a small bruise on the back of the head as well.]

[Hmm! How small are we talking here? And if he takes a closer look at Vergilius' ears, will he find anything unusual?]

[His whole heart, you say? Well, when she can get a word in edge wise she will also supply:]

I've found a knife, but I reckon it might not have been enough to take down our formidable Red-Eyed grouch. It seems to be covered in internal organic matter.

Still, if you'd like to compare what you've found to see if the method matches the implement, then by all means.

[He doubts very much that a knife would be capable of doing that much damage, but he'll take it to compare just in case.

As someone quite familiar with bladed weaponry, does the knife match up with the damage done to Verg's chest?]

[He'll find that the knife could feasibly match the hole, though it's a pretty crudely and raggedly cut out hole.]

[Hmm, lovely. Although that still leaves the question as to the broken ribs but you know what, that is a matter for later.]

[ Honestly, Alice just came out here with Athos to snoop and see Verg, but no one says she can't snoop. So snoop she shall.

Is most of what's here just the destruction of the railway and Verg getting hit with a blue shell, or is there anything from walking around the perimeter of the track? Is there any indication of the camera by the end of the track having gone off recently? ]

[Most of what's here is just wrecked race track and blue shell destruction, though if Alice is checking the track's camera she'll notice that the lens is blown out.]
