That's a message from Chirpy, as that group leaves the records room. Though really, there's not much time left; a fact impressed upon you regardless of whether you had a overly helpful bumbling robot or not.

Take some time to discuss what you've found and equip your new found loot in the open research lab. It's not a bad place for an impromptu meeting considering it's size.

Though sooner, rather than later, you'll need to head deeper still, to meet your two administrators, who surely know you're coming by now.

[Well, while y'all were casting buffs and getting apple bombs...

Somebody's been doing something in the background. That is to say, there's a casting circle happening where Overhaul ended up, which was somewhere a little farther from melee range (but did anyone see him move?). The two shockwaves from Caliburn are met with targeted shots from the laser mounted on his shoulder, which allows him to remain in place and complete the cast.

A black orb targets the group, even as the shrimp comes in -- this one he just dodges with a flit of wings, allowing it to clip the edges of his stolen armor.]

... Gravity Well.

[A crushing spell in the shape of a large circle will form around the group. They might be able to get out of most of it if they're really Hasted, but it also means that a lot of those metallic spikes are coming off the ground and turning into downward projectiles once the gravity really gets going.

The two final shockwaves from the other Caliburn -- those manage to hit once, damaging a wing and destabilizing flight for a moment. Instead of landing, though, Overhaul appears on the ground. Might be flash step, might be something else.]

[ Xiao is fortunately hasted enough to jump out of the way, but there is an unfortunate amount of spikes that are coming down on the group. Xiao manages to slide and roll out of the way – though one spike just narrowly misses – and aims his apple bomb at one of Overhaul's hands, while he's destabilized on the ground. ]

Doesn't matter how many he has, if he can keep moving like that... Pin him down!

[When he reappears on the ground, Waltaquin throws down her Frostbind spell, using her trinket from the dead to amplify it once more as ice forms up off the ground and around Overhaul to try and root him.

Whether this is strong enough to hold him when he uses powers-based teleportation or flash steps, even with the buff... At least it might delay him long enough for someone fast to get a blow in.]

[ He's going to use Caliburn to send a shockwave towards one of his arms, and thanks to Waltaquin's haste, he's gonna forego a second shockwave with a bomb aimed at another hand. ]

[Hey, what if he targets explosions at that laser mounted on Overhaul's shoulder? Granted, it won't be much use if Overhaul decides to move out of the way, but it can't hurt to try!]

[ He's going to activate his own version of flash step to turn into a blue blur and swing the shrimp monstrosity at an arm. ]

[ Thank you Waltaquin for the haste aiding spike-dodging... Psyche will aim the strongest smite she can at yet another arm. ]

[He can hear the plans going on to target hands, you know. He may have a million arms, but his ears still work!]

So you're going to keep relying on the heroes you make up for yourselves to save you. No matter who it is. No matter what. Is that it?

[The laser beam intercepts Xiao's bomb -- although the blast isn't pleasant, and moves Overhaul rather far from where he should have been, Waltaquin's Frostbind grabs about half; Shuda's explosion spheres are too stationary to go with, unfortunately. There's a moment where he snarls and slams one of his hands down on the ground -- instead of trying to remove himself from the ground, it seems, the entire ground is being carved out, raised to dodge next attack.

Wei Wuxian's bomb attack manages to crumble that little pedestal and damage the armor that he's mostly encased in -- there's at least some singeing, but Overhaul moves another hand, fast. First to the wing, then to the hand.

The damage to both is repaired when they're visible again.]

You're going to destroy these parts of the people you knew, then. It'll be interesting to see how they revive, since you're waiting so patiently for it. Maybe they won't have anything to come back to.

[There's a nasty note to the tinny voice, still covered by the distorted beak on his face. His golden eyes blink wide, staring predatorily at the gaggle of would-be boss fighters.

One finger comes up, two.

One: as Wang Lu goes to move, metal spikes left over from the last fight start exploding one by one in his way.

Two: Psyche's smite takes out the newly restored wing as Overhaul executes a dodge to the side, comes back up.]

[He really does need to be prevented from actually overhauling anything at all - or beaten into a position where he cannot do so.

As the spikes start detonating, Waltaquin will actually focus on getting them out of the way for the people whose entire arsenal isn't corpses and AOEs. She'll use her meteors to try and blast the spikes away before Overhaul can get them all - maybe this will also distract him? Blind him? Make him shoot her?]

[ He's gonna do his best to dodge whatever is coming up from the ground here, but he's going to send more shockwaves, specifically aimed at trying to sever as many of Overhaul's arms as he can. ]

Even so, if he can keep Overhaul busy trying to dodge, then that's exactly what he's going to do. More explosion spheres it is, aimed where his arms are this time.]

Flower Glove Use (1/6)

[ He's going to activate the gloves, while dodging and weaving through the shower of metal. Just going to aim to hit a spike in hopes of sending it to at Overhaul's arm (15) ]

It's a favor! Don't think I'd want me flesh back if you grafted it to your fucking arse, mate!

[Billy tries to keep his footing on the crumbling ground, and is going to take the opportunity of Walt being on spike attacking duty to chuck the apple bomb Magolor gave him at the arm he saw Overhaul heal with. This'll make it harder for him to dodge the next one since he needs to get closer than he did before with Caliburn, but worth it for the extra aim.]

[Hey, does Waltaquin have anything on her that's metal in her many Squeenix accessories? Because that's what's going to be targeted next, as she goes for the metal spikes (valid) -- Overhaul points and anything metallic on her or near her will start going off. They're not going to be huge explosions, but they're certainly going to be a nuisance.

This isn't a bad distraction, though, because WWX does manage to get the offending arm -- that's one down! Overhaul's going to roll away once again and then take flight, because the wing has been restored again. And then several completely incomprehensible things happen at once:

1. Shuda's explosion spheres appear near an arm. Instead of dodging, Overhaul contorts himself, putting his beak near the spheres -- somehow, the beak mask opens and swallows all the spheres before they detonate. That seems uncomfortable.

2. While that's happening, and he's not quite getting off the ground, Wang Lu's spike manages to snag an arm.

3. Billy's bomb finds its target thanks to all that and the spike, and Overhaul snarls as he yawls to the side, still half-flying and half-not.

Overhaul himself blurs, reappears a few feet away on the ground -- It's not great having arms cut off, but he seems to be ignoring the issue for the moment. Instead, he'll slam another arm on the ground and raise metal walls and metal spikes to deter any follow-up attacks, similarly to when Magolor's attack happened.]

[She is in fact wearing several metal things including her helmet and I rolled like dogshit, so that absolutely goes up mid-her-trying-to-discard it. Given the amount of things that have gone on with her head these past two weeks she is absolutely bucketing blood at this point.

As she's reeling a skeletal warrior will pull itself from the earth and charge straight at Overhaul, jumping to grab at one of those remaining arms - and explode with a blast fueled once more by Alecto's fury.]

[ Great, they've got some arms! Wei Wuxian is going to do his best to dodge those walls and spikes before aiming another shockwave at Overhaul's arms.

And then, he'll hold out his taser to Xiao. ]

[ The arms are high priority, but Waltaquin being hurt is higher priority. Psyche will rush in and drop an item-powered heal on this. ]

[ magolor's probably been hovering at the outskirts of the fight, doling out apples and waiting in the wings just in case someone might need to be bailed out- but with recent happenings such as wang lu catching some hands arms and the explosions that other parties are preoccupied with... that's enough. magolor disappears from his current position with a flourish, but not before dropping four more apple bombs behind him in case anyone nearby wanted to grab them.

(metal walls to block any easy shots, uuuggghhhh. is nothing easy. but that's fine.)

because when he reappears, guess who's also slamming a hand onto the ground, and doesn't have to worry about silly things like physical obstacles getting in the way? it's spike to spike warfare now, baby, with magolor's own dimensional spires of an otherworldly violet rising up in the general vicinity of where overhaul's hiding. ]

[ Xiao will go ahead and accompany Wei Wuxian's shockwave by turning on the taser and chucking it in that direction. ]

[Between Waltaquin's skeletal warrior and WWX's sword blast, they manage to clear some of the spikes and also take down most of the metallic wall.

It looks like Overhaul has been using the time to start restoring some of his wounds, because while there are still missing arms, they look like they might be in the process of growing back. That being said, having sudden spike-to-spike warfare at this stage of the game isn't ideal, probably.

Overhaul leaps back, using his extra arms to balance, even as several more of them are injured by the spikes. He points, and the remnants of the metal wall explode. It's not a big blast, but it seems more meant for distraction than anything.]

I won't let you... I won't allow you to do this. I will leave this rock with the serum, and I will change everything even with all of you standing in my way.

All of you...

[Just for the sake of clarity, Overhaul started out with 5 pairs of arms, which have now been pared down to... let's see, 4 existing pairs, 2 of which are functional. The real question is: which are the ones you should be aiming for? It's probably a good idea to watch carefully.

Because he concentrates once again on putting a hand over the injured arms, presumably to finish the regeneration process.

That's when the taser shows up, momentarily freezing him in place.]

[ Xiao's had enough of this man, and he's about to lose his shit. And you know, what better way to express your anger than to pull out the flare gun and aim it right where it hurts!!!

A perfect end to the deez nuts saga. Ligma flare gun, asshole. ]

[You know, I'm just going to turn this into arm inventory day.

Not nut inventory day, because we're not chopping those off, even if there might be some of the lower half on fire or singed at this point. Nobody wants more balls rolling around here.

1. Wei Wuxian and Wang Lu can get a total of 3 arms. Happy Pride to the cultivators.

2. Magolor can pin one arm, though the crossbow doesn't take it entirely off.

3. Shuda can lop one off, I'm trying to keep count of the arms here sorry if we run out before the end.
