Though sooner, rather than later, you'll need to head deeper still, to meet your two administrators, who surely know you're coming by now.

[Well, if it worked on a fishbowl bot it's worth a try here too... Shuda is just going to take the opportunity to leap up and try to come down on Athos from above with his sword while he's distracted.]

[ And while Shuda is doing that... Sorry Athos, she feels a little bad about this. But Psyche is going to try to launch a bolt of destructive divinity in a targeted slash towards that burned part of the armor. Can we pile up the damage here? ]

Now that Athos has retreated from the rest of the melee group, this gives the waddling beast plenty of room to charge right past Wang Lu and at the armored liger. As it approaches, it turns suddenly, skidding toward Athos and lashing out with its tail, aiming to knock it down as much as possible so the NUKING and also Shuda's death from above can begin.]

Anyways with the arrival of help he's going to try to regain his space after one more push and follow it up with a shock wave combo! ]

[ Did we want more shockwaves? That's what Wei Wuxian is going to provide! He angles his swing as such so that he doesn't hit anyone but Athos as he sends another shockwave towards him. ]

[Y'all this is one catpile.

There's an earflick and Athos rolls to the side in an attempt to avoid Shuda's attack -- this means Psyche's bolt misses, but it also means it skids right into the waddle dragon, so maybe this is karma. There's an unhappy jerk as it gets tailwhipped and then probably hit with so many shockwaves.

While Athos isn't completely down, he is definitely physically down and encircled. Quite unfortunate.]

[That's when the nearby metallic spikes start growing smaller metallic spikes.

These ones go horizontal, shooting across at each other and making being upright (and human) a real metallic hazard in the midst of this melee. There's spikes coming for you at every height from ankle to eyeballs, guys.

Just in case you were wondering if Overhaul could see the battle from within his dome, and whether he was watching.]

[Ah, but their teamwork was going so well.

The dragon, whipped around from throwing Athos to the ground, puts its small golden retrieve body over or in front of whichever melee combatants it can, even if she can't get there in time (though she'll try, bolting across their section of the room).

And with all the might she can pull out of the blade that carries the heart and hatred of the earth fires its laser beam in the cage direction facing Overhaul's little throne, defiant and furious.]

[Alas, poor waddledeegon, sacrificed 'pon the altar of shish kabobs -- it does successfully manage to protect the other combatants from harm, even if it's kind of suspended in the air by multiple metallic spikes now.

As for Alecto's Sword, it finds its target straight and true.

Behind them, though, Athos' panting hisses sound as it struggles to its feet and slinks back, looking for an opening where it's still encircled by spikes and combatants.]

[OUR LITTLE WADDLE BOY... shooting laser beams and protecting the rest of the party.

As he begins to fade back into purple particles, Waltaquin lets out a small keen of pain. She was not, it turns out, fast enough. Stronger together, huh?

A few spikes managed to make it to her, but though they've lacerated her shoulder and waist quite nastily, the overall damage is relatively minor thank you benevolent dice gods for the good damage roll.]

[ Psyche's gaze snaps between her, and Athos beginning to stir again. She hesitates a second, but she's counting on Baizhu and his stealth healing she lifts her hand for another blast of divinity aimed again for the burns in Athos' armor.

Second time lucky? ]

[ RIP WADDLEDEEGON he will remember you well. He has no idea they lost his bestie on the other side of the spike wall thankfully.

He does see Walt's damage. ] Walt?!

[ Hello? He can't run to her cause it'll leave the other two vulnerable so he'll try to run over to Athos instead, aiming to shove his sword into any gaps in that armor after Psyche's strike ]

[Athos actually tries to climb the walls when he sees Wang Lu coming, because this one really doesn't seem like a good snack to go after -- but Psyche's divine magic smites him back down, so all he can do is get jabbed at like a particularly unfortunate pincushion. After a few more struggles, the liger goes limp.

Athos is dead.]

[ RIP. Also he's so sorry, Ibuki and Moravia. ]

[ she doesn't pause on her attack on fishbots, but her smile grows a little fainter when she realizes what happened.

It'll take much more than this to fell me. I simply couldn't fully shelter behind my skeletal dragon in time.

[We will ignore why the dragon was near to others and not to her, which is surely nothing.]

[Perhaps thankfully(?) Waltaquin and her waddledragon were a big enough show that Baizhu could see enough of it from closer to the robot side of things that he could sneak his way over to Walt.

He doesn't hesitate before dragging Walt a little further away, out of the line of fire, and then dropping down next to her to start healing the wounds.]

[She drops easily, too, panting a little from a mix of the exertion of her dragon hex and the wounds.]

Be quick about it, if you don't mind, Doctor Baizhu. [She winces.] I have no intention of missing a showdown of these proportions!

[She giggles with a edge of manic glee that he might chalk up to shock, if he literally had never met her ever before in his life.]

Of course, this isn't the place to waste time.

[Since they're going as fast as possible, there might end up scars?? but assuming they're not horrifically mortal wounds, they should close fast enough under the glowing green light.]

Waltaquin smiles, looking at the aftermath of the Athos fight and letting her gaze drift to the bay side of the room.]
