That's a message from Chirpy, as that group leaves the records room. Though really, there's not much time left; a fact impressed upon you regardless of whether you had a overly helpful bumbling robot or not.

Take some time to discuss what you've found and equip your new found loot in the open research lab. It's not a bad place for an impromptu meeting considering it's size.

Though sooner, rather than later, you'll need to head deeper still, to meet your two administrators, who surely know you're coming by now.

[ LET'S FUCKIN GO. HE'S HERE FOR VENGEANCE AGAINST THESE GODDAMN FISH. HE'LL GO SICKOS AGAIN IF HE NEEDS TO!!!

While Lacus does that, Xiao wields his spear and he is POINTEDLY going nowhere near any of their taser arms. He's going to go to any bots that seem to be encroaching on Lacus and Haruka -- though he can only take on maybe two or three -- and try to slice whatever he can around their middle. ]

[Oh hey, it's the manlet!

The bots do not say that, but they do react to seeing Xiao -- notably, they raise their shields a little, and then start aiming their taser arms directly for his spear. Hm. Moreover, since there's metal spikes everywhere, it makes it hard for both bots and combatants to maneuver, but they seem to be fairly nimble and well able to track their prey.

The bot having a harpoon yeeted at it retreats behind its empty arm (its shield arm), though the harpoon manages to make a decent furrow in the top of its head before it retreats all the way like a turtle.

... It then rushes Lacus with its shield, fast and menacing.]

[ Shield? Meet shield! Lacus grips tightly at her flowery necklace as she tries her best to summon one. She can only hope this works and she won't just get crushed between the bot and the cage... ]

[It's less a cage and more a forest of unfortunate metallic spikes with a wall in between, but that's neither here nor there -- the bot isn't huge, so it's not going to crush her, but since it's shield vs. shield it is going to try and keep pushing.

........ Lacus is now in a push-of-war with a fishbowl bot.]

[idologue]

[ ... okay. It could be worse. It could be considerably worse, especially since this is the first combat encounter she's ever actively participating in. ]

It's distracted...! Someone...!!

[ While the shield is engaged with Lacus, someone come disable this bot from the back! ]

[microtransactions]

[ he's conserving magic, he's conserving magic, hence not just breaking out the black hole again, but

he is going to dart behind the fishbot, a set of three apples being loosed from a sleeve? nowhere in particular? with a flourish towards its unguarded back.

with a clap of his hands as he darts away again, the gem apples detonate in a very controlled explosion— we're not looking to hit lacus here too! ]

[plunges]

[ No, not this shit again, Xiao is not going to crit fail this time!! Fuck you!!!! He's quick to slide his body and his spear around to try and dodge their attacks, just narrowly avoiding to get himself caught on one of the spikes. While they're aiming for the spear, Xiao is just going to try do some anime acrobatics and try to kick at least one of them, towards one of the spikes. ]

[killerwaves]

[That's probably a good idea.

Xiao is able to kick one of the bots towards a spike, leaving it properly skewered even if it tried to shield itself at the last minute. However, one of the remaining bots is observing this, and with its shield already raised, tries to catch Xiao in the air.

It's almost as though it's anticipating his acrobatics.]

[plunges]

[ Oh, god. They're learning. They're learning.

If it's not raising its taser hand, he's going to try to use his spear to slice at that arm. If it's the shield arm, he's going to attempt to pogo off of the shield to leap back onto the ground.

If it is the taser hand, he might be in need of some help. ]

[Today on PBS: Xiao learns what a neural network is. :)

Luckily for Xiao, this one is not the taser arm! It's the raised shield arm heading to intercept, so he manages to pogostick off the shield -- he might want to get some clearance between himself and the bots, though, since the rest are going to try and press that advantage, and they do have tasers out this time.]

[plunges]

[ There goes Temenos.

Well. That's bad. Xiao doesn't have much time to think, though, because it looks like metal sure is bad! He hates that he has to do this, but he'll toss his spear off to the side. He's a quick dodger, so he's going to, once again, slide around to dodge their strikes.

While the group tries to revive the priest, Xiao's going to serve as a distraction and attempt to try and trick them with his swift movements into getting them caught on one of the spikes. ]

[ I'm finally awake so here's josh, finally putting his levitation powers to good use and providing these bots with an airborne target and hoping that they lock onto him so that it's easier to zap them with jesusbeams-lite aka smaller zaps that don't require too much charging ]

[With the two of them working together, they're definitely able to lead these bots in circles -- they're smarter than yesterday's bots, but yesterday's bots generally only had one opponent!

Several of them get knocked out by the jesusbeams. It does look like the crowd is starting to thin out... Good news?]

magolor's going to duck back to where haruka is without too much issue navigating the terrain (thanks levitation) and ask: ]

You want me to leave some of my dimensional needles closer to you to try to keep anything from getting too close?

It does mean you won't be able to get around as much either, is the thing, since I can't make it so they won't hurt you- you'll have to avoid touching them as well.

[ but then again there's already a million metal spikes everywhere, what's a few more magical ones to add to the mess? ]

It's not like I have many places to go with all the rest of the spikes and the robots everywhere!

[saying the quiet part out loud, as always.]

But - sure, yeah, fine, just don't get yourself killed either.

[He does have a healing item on him right now, so he should be okay for any spike related shenanigans!]

Hee hee! I like to think I'm pretty good at that by now, but don't worry, I know better than to push my luck.

[ anyway, as promised, magolor crouches down to press his hands to the ground, still keeping a careful eye on... everything else...

and haruka gets an arc of dimensional spears rising from rifts in the ground to frame him like a fancy magic fence. they're not physical and won't like, stop something from outright getting through, but they sure can do some decent damage to whatever might try!

with that done, magolor winks before flitting back into the thick of it... or rather, continuing to skirt the outskirts, looking for an opening? ]
