Throughout your time on the island, there's been a steady rhythm; the murders, the trials, the executions, the clean-up afterwards that leave just up remnants for you to remember what was lost. This Monday morning though, things are different. The debris and any biohazards are cleared, but no effort has been made to repair the games at the arcade, or to restock the chemicals and damaged equipment at the laboratory.

Odd.

If you cast your eyes to the sky, you'll also notice that the distortion is also lingering—there's certainly less of it at least, a haze still lingering over the go-karts, one whirlpool lingering out in the sea. It could be worse, surely.

Though there's no new locations for you to take your mind off of all these oddities either. In fact, looking at your device to access the resort map area and scrolling past Kakapo's Nest triggers an error.

There’s one more, slightly more eclectic change: the kittybots, instead of having cute kitty ears and faces, are now without exception round-headed. This would make them look like ordinary robots, but their heads actually now look like a bowl of fish swimming, which occasionally form up into expressions. A change of pace for everything, it seems.

I wonder if the book cafe isn't a little crowded for this...

[ Smart boy. She offers him a pastry and an only slightly threatening smile. ]

You know, I don't really know what your favorites are.

I have been eating quite a bit of chocolate since arriving here, but usually I tend to favor savory.

[ Opens his mouth. Ah! ]

Oh, more like Wei Wuxian. Do you like spicy food too?

[ She pauses to consider his open mouth. Looks around at the witnesses. And then grins a little to herself before lifting the pastry to his mouth.

If he teases her again she's stuffing the whole thing in to silence him tbh. ]

[ No one will know meme. He knows not to say anything unless he wants to be abused further! Taking a bite of the pastry and waiting to finish what he has in his mouth before he answers. ]

I do like spicy food, but I have a feeling his level of spice might be out of anyone's range. [ Giving a wink at that. ]

[diabolizes]

[ He picks up one of the pastries before she can set it down. ]

I don’t know, I think there’s plenty here.

Do you think so? Well... it's probably easier than bringing the coffee somewhere else.

[diabolizes]

[ And on that noet— ]

Would you like some coffee?

[ She narrows her eyes at him a tiny bit, suspecting some private joke. ]

Not this time. I think it would only make me jittery...

[diabolizes]

[ Shockingly, there is not one there. ]

Ah, alright. [ He'll just pick up a piece of fruit. ] I hope you take advantage of some of what you brought.

[chrysaline]

I will, don't worry.

[ She will forget, and some worrying is probably justified. ]

[She's probably been neglecting eating almost entirely, but the fruit? We can probably stomach that.

Waltaquin flags her down.]

We may have need of her soon. Is there anything she needs to be told that you want to leave in our hands?

[ She pushes the fruit she's carrying towards Waltaquin, frowning a tiny bit as she weighs that "we." ]

I don't want to bring her in for more of this than I have to. At least it won't affect her if they turn off powers again, but... [ Hm. ] ...it's selfish of me, but I want to fight my own battles. But I'll write her another letter, just in case.

[ And if she doesn't get to read it, what should she prioritize? Psyche worries at her lip a little with one nail. ]

Tell her the promise I made on her behalf, if I can't. And... that I think the administrators are what's most important. The rest... you'll probably know better than I do what she needs to know.

[necrotiem]

[She giggles, the sound warbling.] I predict she'll hate a great deal of that. [The promising, the general lack of knowing, Psyche keeping her from participating even when in danger...the list does go on. But it'd be a lie to say the huffy petulance that might sneak its way into Medea's controlled reaction would be amusing, too, in its own right.]

But she might also find it in herself to be proud of you.

[Waltaquin selects an orange, but instead of peeling it, proceeds to just roll it around idly while they keep planning.]

There's no reading letters in skirmishes, though, so you'd had better get to it, whatever it is.

I like to think she will be. She's the one who told me... a pawn that gets past enemy lines can become anything. [ Medea, who actually knows chess, may not have phrased it like this. But the essence remains. ] I feel like I'm finally deciding what I want to become. She's the last person who would tell me to stand in place and let someone else move me.

[ Somewhat literally, in this case. Psyche lets out a slow sigh and nods. ]

Doctor Baizhu said there wasn't anything wrong with my heart. So it should be alright for me to call her one more time.

[necrotiem]

"Tell her that I'd like a chance for us to meet again, in quieter circumstances." She did say that. In the event we can have not both nor either...

... No. there is naught elsewise to be added.

[She can think of nothing to add, unable even now to access a reckless outpouring of sentiment.

At the mention of Psyche's heart, she nods.] Now that we know for certain, we can always see if you can do to other machines what you managed with vehicles.

[ They're running out of time, aren't they? In so many ways. Psyche nods again. ]

If we have a chance, I'll try to give you both that.

[ Quieter circumstances... it's a shame that this is the best they can do, isn't it? Hoping for a later is reckless. ]

I've never seen it have that effect before. But Vasilios doesn't have machines like that. I'll see if I can test it a little, before everything starts.

Should we sojourn to the mini-golf course and try it on the vehicles there? It might do us some good to hit things into the water. [She is only joking, of course - though they should probably not forget they have things that can be driven off-road.]

Well, it might be good to know before we need it. ...And to hit things into the water a little.

[ She might be joking. Most likely. But if they both could use a little stress relief before the big confrontation, who could blame them? ]
