Throughout your time on the island, there's been a steady rhythm; the murders, the trials, the executions, the clean-up afterwards that leave just up remnants for you to remember what was lost. This Monday morning though, things are different. The debris and any biohazards are cleared, but no effort has been made to repair the games at the arcade, or to restock the chemicals and damaged equipment at the laboratory.

Odd.

If you cast your eyes to the sky, you'll also notice that the distortion is also lingering—there's certainly less of it at least, a haze still lingering over the go-karts, one whirlpool lingering out in the sea. It could be worse, surely.

Though there's no new locations for you to take your mind off of all these oddities either. In fact, looking at your device to access the resort map area and scrolling past Kakapo's Nest triggers an error.

There’s one more, slightly more eclectic change: the kittybots, instead of having cute kitty ears and faces, are now without exception round-headed. This would make them look like ordinary robots, but their heads actually now look like a bowl of fish swimming, which occasionally form up into expressions. A change of pace for everything, it seems.

[ A while after arriving, Lacus is going to address the group - though really, she is looking at Temenos, Haruka and Crea specifically. ]

... I want to apologize. What I said at the end of the trial was unnecessary.

No matter how much his actions may have hurt me, there is no use in ascribing intentionality to something that he could neither control nor remember. I was just trying to hurt him in the same way I felt hurt.

I'm sorry.

And if I get the opportunity to say as much to him, I will. It's too much to ask me to trust him again, but I do want to forgive him.

[Temenos gives Lacus his full attention for this. He's smiling by the time she finishes, eyes full of a familiar melancholy.]

I too need to apologize. Given my closeness to Beelzebub, I did not treat you with nearly enough courtesy and respect as I should have. Regardless of the circumstances, you lost a loved one to him, and you had every right to be upset.

...I know I certainly had some choice words when I finally tracked down the killer of my loved ones.

[ That... went over better than she thought it would, and that makes her smile as well. There were a lot of factors going into this apology, but she was still fully expecting that it might be rejected wholesale. ]

Zelkov forgave him first - how could I not follow suit, in that case?

[ She figures it won't surprise people terribly that Zelkov texted her. ]

He was trying to help Beel, you know? They were at the lab because Zelkov was trying to subdue his rage mode and keep him and others from harm.

[Temenos's eyes widen considerably, and his voice goes quiet.]

I didn't, no. That...changes so much.

[Ultimately for the better. But it doesn't stop it from being any less tragic.]

[ She certainly feels a lot more goodwill for Beel knowing that Zelkov had voluntarily and selflessly risked himself, rather than that Beel simply attacked him. ]

[... ah. He's honestly not surprised to hear this at all.]

You know, I told him on Thursday night that he was one of our voices of reason here. And then he just had to go and prove me right, didn't he.

[ It's funny in a sad way. ]

It's time for us to do him proud even in his absence - however difficult that may prove.

Believe me, the irony wasn't lost on me at all. But like you said, we owe him - and the other dead - at least that much.

[ This one is even more surprising than Temenos. She didn't actually think Crea would ever do so much as look at her again. ]

My feelings about him remain conflicted, but that is something that is up to me to solve. I do hope we can meet again so I can talk to him in good faith.

I mean, the rest of us could get super loud or something too, if you want. Unless their monitoring is even more invasive than that, in which case there isn't much we can do about it, can we?

I am fairly sure they also have cameras on us, in addition to listening devices. Zelkov and I exchanged notes to read under blankets or in the shower, as a result.

[ Maybe a little too paranoid, but like. You know. ]

But I'll take my chances here. It may be that a lot of you already know this and have simply not shared it for similar reasons.

Yeah, like I said. Any precautions we can take kind of start becoming moot depending on how invasive the nature of their monitoring is. You could try hovering over it, we could crowd you, throw you into a shower, but...

[ but really, the fact that they don't know how closely they're watched. tsk. ]

Not really sure if anything is safe from being overheard. We don't know what kind of devices they have implanted in us nor do we know where the listening devices may be. We can only hope they become too busy to really bother with us.

That is also a good point - if our bodies have been invaded, then any secrecy I have attempted to keep in the last few weeks was nothing but a source of amusement to them.
