Throughout your time on the island, there's been a steady rhythm; the murders, the trials, the executions, the clean-up afterwards that leave just up remnants for you to remember what was lost. This Monday morning though, things are different. The debris and any biohazards are cleared, but no effort has been made to repair the games at the arcade, or to restock the chemicals and damaged equipment at the laboratory.

Odd.

If you cast your eyes to the sky, you'll also notice that the distortion is also lingering—there's certainly less of it at least, a haze still lingering over the go-karts, one whirlpool lingering out in the sea. It could be worse, surely.

Though there's no new locations for you to take your mind off of all these oddities either. In fact, looking at your device to access the resort map area and scrolling past Kakapo's Nest triggers an error.

There’s one more, slightly more eclectic change: the kittybots, instead of having cute kitty ears and faces, are now without exception round-headed. This would make them look like ordinary robots, but their heads actually now look like a bowl of fish swimming, which occasionally form up into expressions. A change of pace for everything, it seems.

One day, we'll find an actual computer somewhere around here, and after we get whatever we need to out of it I'm going to mess with all their passwords and change their background images to something stupid.

[How much have you tried tampering with your U-PINION before, Mags? Likely there's not much to be found in something they all have, but...]

I mean, I imagine they might connect to a similar network. [ like whatever the outposts have with KRATOS? ] For security purposes if they're smart they'd keep anything useful on a network separate from the ones our U-PINIONs are hooked up to, though, I bet. Just in case any of us tried something cute with them.

... Not that I've been able to get anywhere with anything like that. These things are ... really, really basic and stripped down in functionality.

So many of us have seen nothing of the sort before; we'd easily accept them and therefore could be easily herded by them. But it really never is that simple.

Unless you might be able to reappropriate them?

If nothing else, carrying them on us possibly tells them where we are, if they don't already know from whatever other surveillance measures they have in place.

Likewise, these things can send voice messages— which means they have a way of recording sound. Which means in theory it might be possible to listen in on us with them as well, though I don't know if these things, rudimentary as they are, are actually capable of transmitting that much back constantly.

But if you mean by reappropriation that I can take them apart and maybe do something with them...

[Technology is not her field of expertise, and she has clearly been less unwell, so Waltaquin is perhaps not her most inventive.

But after looking deeply pensive for a bit, she links her fingers together slowly.]

These things transmit signals? Can a similar device prevent their transmission, like a magic shell? Stop them from getting out of here with something they need.

Mmm. Unless they're using something completely unknown to any of us which, like, I guess isn't totally out of the question still, then that should be how they all communicate with each other. How we can all mess around on the same network no matter where we are on the islands, you know?

You don't need magic to block them, though. Hmm... let me put it this way. If you can figure out a shield that stops outside lightning or electric whether magic or not from getting in, then that same shield can stop the signals from getting out too!

And I guess, failing all else, you can just try to wrap it in dense enough stuff to dampen the signals so they're not as strong...?
