Throughout your time on the island, there's been a steady rhythm; the murders, the trials, the executions, the clean-up afterwards that leave just up remnants for you to remember what was lost. This Monday morning though, things are different. The debris and any biohazards are cleared, but no effort has been made to repair the games at the arcade, or to restock the chemicals and damaged equipment at the laboratory.

Odd.

If you cast your eyes to the sky, you'll also notice that the distortion is also lingering—there's certainly less of it at least, a haze still lingering over the go-karts, one whirlpool lingering out in the sea. It could be worse, surely.

Though there's no new locations for you to take your mind off of all these oddities either. In fact, looking at your device to access the resort map area and scrolling past Kakapo's Nest triggers an error.

There’s one more, slightly more eclectic change: the kittybots, instead of having cute kitty ears and faces, are now without exception round-headed. This would make them look like ordinary robots, but their heads actually now look like a bowl of fish swimming, which occasionally form up into expressions. A change of pace for everything, it seems.

[He gives Lacus the dignity of meeting her gaze. He respects her enough for that, even if now she hates him.

Not that he has a right to feel bad about it. He shouldn't have made the mistake of caring about her when he was a liar from the start.]

So Lobelia was right all along.

[ That's funny. That's really, really funny. If Lacus were a worse person, or maybe if she were just less numb, she'd laugh now. A mole in their middle. It was the first thing Lobelia had ever suggested to her, in that conversation where they let their facades drop.

Lacus takes a deep breath and nods. Steady. Stay steady. ]

There are a great many things I wish to ask you, but first tell me one thing. I trust you to speak the truth.

[ There is something hard in her eyes. She knows speaking the word 'trust' may be foolish, but the weight of the act will come to rest on Billy and not her. ]

[ This means nothing to anybody else here, but it doesn't need to. ]

[A weight sits on his chest as she looks at him. Part of him is tempted to lie and say he did, just to push Lacus away and keep her safe from the vitriol that caring about him might bring.

But she deserves at least some amount of truth from him.]

What happens to those two after don't concern me. I was just after what I needed.

[ Lacus knows that he could be lying, but looking into his eyes, she doesn't believe that he is. And even if he were, what greater punishment would there be than to watch her go on and believe him - intentionally, almost maliciously twisting the knife? ]

[ Forgiveness sounds an awful lot like ice right now, though. ]

[There's a softness to his voice--concern, like she may have heard from him when they spoke of their own lives.

[There's undeniable affection in his voice, as grim as it is right now.]

[ She just tilts her head, still smiling.

Lacus was wrong about him on many counts, but there is a tie here that is not yet broken. For a multitude of reasons, Lacus will hang onto it. A precious, precious bond - there's power in that after all. ]
