Three dead, one vote. This might be a pit of a pickle, huh? Perhaps appropriately, the kittybots are serving pickles of all flavors today, along with food that might remind you of your childhood like ants on a log, gummy worm sundaes and adorable toast in sweet and savory profiles. To drink, are their best attempts at replicating the DD refreshers with a whole array of silly straws.

Off to the side in a booth of their own are the bodies as well as attendant kittybots (well two bodies and one arm); simply request which body you'd like to look at and the kitty bots will direct you appropriately, given the number of arms floating around. The kittybots continue to do their best.

[ s'up everyone, magolor is going to show up with two (2) weirdly relatively unharmed but very dead pheasants before sighing and going into his bit. ]

I checked out the aviary. Probably the weirdest thing is how not messed up and undisturbed it is. There were some glass shards on the ground, and these two dead pheasants, but other than that...

The glass bits were all really small, like barely getting as big as someone's fingernail at best. Clear in color, and kind of start from the door in a sort of, hm, shotgun spread pattern? They're closest together at the entrance and spread out further from each other the farther in you go.

The birds are uninjured other than a single thin, long, controlled slit across both of their necks and a broken neck. The glass bits look too small to have sliced them up, plus there wasn't any glass on their bodies. It's weird, because there wasn't blood on the ground anywhere I could find. But the birds are pretty pale, which makes me think they were bled somewhere else and then dumped in the aviary afterwards, maybe? There's no bloody trail or drag marks or anything like that, and they were left like ... right in the middle of the main path, so they were pretty obviously noticeable.

I checked the slits against one of the kunai a bunch of us got a while back, but it looks like the edge was too thick to have made them. Whatever it was someone used to cut into these birds, it was pretty thin and precise.

I looked all over for whatever they might have used in case they dumped it there, and a source for the glass, including in the little shop there, but couldn't find anything.

There was a bloody scalpel in the arcade - that might correspond to their injuries?

Oh. That might do it. If someone wants to try to check, I mean, I have the birds here and all...

Honestly, the bigger question is still why the birds, though.

Honestly, I have no idea. The profiles are vague enough that only Vergilius really has any obvious mention of it.

Well, in the most general sense, yes. [ considering the whole arm thing and all??? ] But would he care to spend the time on blood over a bigger snack? Unless Alice told him to, maybe.

I don't think her artes are powered by blood though. Hmm...

Actually, that reminds me: she could heal. And Athos was still injured when we found him. So that begs the question of who inflicted those wounds without Alice being able to heal him.

Considering Nona's wounds, I can't help but wonder if she was involved. There were bite wounds on him, right?

... if he were hungry enough to um. Maybe do what Joshua and the other toucans are suggesting, I'm not sure that he would have left the birds alone?

[ because he figures a hungry animal would just munch on the entire birds, and super messily at that. and athos didn't seem very picky with the whole uh. alice thing. ]

Unless you're saying someone specifically bled the birds beforehand, and brought just the blood to. What, lure him away from Alice or something? And kept the birds themselves for some reason?

I am saying someone intentionally bled the birds. [ Could you imagine a liger using a scalpel to slit some throats for a drink ] They needed the blood for some reason and I'm just trying to figure out if it was to lure an animal to kill or involving some kind of spell.

We don't know everyone's capabilities here. I do think what Little Xiao is saying could be much more likely.

...Or the killer put the birds' blood on Alice to lure Athos to her. And given that her body was missing...

You have a point, Billy said her veil was bloody when he found it. So maybe they got it on her and then broke her crop? [ since apparently that's the source of it??? ] That would help with escaping without Athos chasing them.

... but why the birds? And how would anyone have gotten the blood on Alice in the first place before breaking her crop?
