TRIAL

You all know the drill by now even if things are a little different today, with the two deceased and the shuffling of the announcements. Things are much the same at the sandbar though, kittybots setting out seafood as the theme for this week, along with every flavor of mountain dew under the sun, including the energy drink kind. (food mod note: this is actually on brand MTN dew for once!).

Off to the side in a booth of their own are the bodies as well as attendant kittybots; simply request which body you'd like to look at and the kitty bots will direct you appropriately, as if it's difficult to tell the difference between a squid and a giant robot. Maybe they're just there trying to be helpful, they're doing their best. .

(( OOC: Welcome to your third trial! You'll have 7 hours (8PM EST/5PM PST) to vote one (1) person guilty of murder. Since this is scapegoat style, finding the correct killer is not mandatory!

Oh. Yeah, I forgot about his laser. The little holes in the rocks could have been caused by a laser, too.

This seemed like a proper fight, so I imagine he would have used whatever he had available to defend himself.

What was he fighting against, though?

It feels like... all we even found over there was just evidence for Skywarp, and no one else. Not even other footprints.

I don't like to make this suggestion, but... have we considered that their opponents may have been each other?

It's possible but then someone else would have to have dispatched the victor, right?

Not if they were both mortally wounded.

Hm. I doubt if Skywarp was mortally wounded enough if they fought each other because I don't think Kallamar would have had enough strength to slice off his legs, but that's probably just me~

The distortion is still here. Clearly it hasn't been satisfied yet.

There wouldn't be a culprit. But there would still be need for a sacrifice.

...So if there isn't a third or fourth person involved... we'd need to pick someone innocent.

I don't like that.

If we take the Wang Lu's suggestion that he took help from someone, maybe that person would be considered "Skywarp's killer".

And Skywarp's final resting pose was because he emerged victorious?

Yes, that would be my assumption. He emerged victorious but mortally wounded, so he set himself up this way.

But of course, that is just speculation as of now. I'd rather believe there is a true culprit still alive.

If we're going along this train of thought, it's also possible that Skywarp emerged victorious, but a third party saw any injuries he may have sustained and took advantage of that.

But, as you said, this is just a theory. I would much rather believe that, also.

That would be in line with his personality, if you ask me, given what we know about him.

Unless the Squid Kid was carrying the extra harpoon, I doubt it. Skywarp was loud about how unoriginal using the weapon was. We can keep it in mind as a possibility, but beyond the metal, there isn't much overlap.

Normally I would discount vanity as an argument for matters of life or death, but...

I did consider his peg leg as well, but I don't know how clean of a stab wound those would have made since he was walking on them.

That did not escape my notice either. There is one possibility, however, and it is that his opponent never had to touch the ground in the first place.

Someone who can fly or hover, then?

Which is why I find the idea that Kallamar was also on the scene a bit farfetched. To engage Skywarp at the waterfall, he would have had to climb, would he not?

He could also swim.

I don't know if he would be able to swim up a waterfall, though. I never really asked.
