What started with a week promising relaxation turned into something else entirely. It might be nice to try to grab a quiet moment after the whirlwind of the weekend, but there's something to be said about keeping up the momentum too.The island open to you this week, Dodo's Outlook, seems to have that in mind, or at the very least, keeping your mind occupied. All damage to the island buildings has been fixed by Monday morning at least, but noticeably there are less palm trees than before where the damage was the heaviest. Explorers too will find that the area behind the waterfall has been completely sealed off with solid rock.

Whether you're the type to commune with the nature of marine life in the aquarium, the cosmos in the planetarium, or to spin your own tale in the theater, there's plenty to do and enjoy. As always there's task to complete too, and after all you've been through by now, what's a little more bonding in the pursuit of prizes?

[idologue]

[ Lacus has not been seen crying since that fateful moment at the trial. Her eyes seem clear now and purpose has returned to her movements - though there's a liveliness that she was projecting before that is missing now.

In the very early morning hours, she can be found in the garden. She's sitting on her knees in the designated memorial area with her hands folded in a way that indicates prayer. She's going to simply keep her eyes closed and disregard others in the garden unless she is actively approached.

In more reasonable morning hours, Lacus is in the kitchen, where she's gently shooed some robots to the side and taken hold of the stove. She's making pancakes! They're nice and fluffy, too! On occasion, she looks out into the buffet area to check for people and ask: ]

Good morning! Would you like some fresh pancakes? If so, what topping do you prefer?

[ For most of the later day, Lacus is in the theater. For a good long while she is stage area, looking through stage costumes (she's taking special care in sorting through the more elaborate kimono and dresses) and light fixtures. She can also be found on the stage itself, walking up and down and vocalizing musical scales and testing out the acoustics.

Then she also spends some time in the ballroom, making simple sounds on all of the instruments. It does not appear as though she can actually play any, though, she's really only trying out the sound of simple notes.

And in the early evening, Lacus is in the arcade. She's been seen here from time to time all through the last week, most often playing Mario Kart. She's at it again today. It looks like she's taken to maining Koopa and she's... honestly really good at it now? The NPC drivers don't stand much of a chance. ]

[ He will give her a moment of privacy as she communes with those who have fallen. Once it seems like she is done, he'll walk over and pull out a familiar shell from his sleeves. Without a word, he will place it down beside her. ]

[idologue]

[ That catches her completely off-guard. She'd been set on doing her prayer business early and keeping her mourning out of other people's hair generally, but this....? ]

... you saved one.

[chosenwang]

It may not hold any meaning because it's without a recording, but that may be for the best. [ No twisted recordings or eating asmr here. So no reason for it to get smashed. ] He gave it to me at the very start of our journey here.

[idologue]

[ Lacus runs a fingertip over the shell. The texture has become so familiar already. ]

Isn't that meaning in itself? It's empty because there are still sounds left to find, there's a world out there that is waiting to be heard.

[ Lobelia won't be the one hearing or recording any of it, but even so, and empty recording feels a little like a promise of continuation. ]

[chosenwang]

[ There is something incredibly bittersweet about that. ]

That is a way to look at it. I'm going to entrust it's potential in your hands then. [ It's hers ]

[idologue]

Thank you. I'll take good care of it.

[ That's two conques in her possession now, two very different reminders to keep going and never stop. A kindness left by Lobelia himself and a kindness done to her by one who does not share her grief at all. ]

You've all been more gracious about my feelings than I expected. Maybe I am more pessimistic than I thought.

[chosenwang]

[ Crossing his arms as he thinks about it. ]

I won't make any guesses as to why you view may be painted with pessimism, but I will state that we are an unique bunch here. It also helps we aren't surrounded by extras with mob mentality. [ Whatever that means ]

[idologue]

[ ..... yeah, what does that mean. She tilts her head. ]

And how would you classify an 'extra'?

[chosenwang]

[ Whoops. ] Been playing too many games in the arcade lately. I mean people who opinions don't really matter in the end.

[idologue]

[ Lacus frowns. ]

How do you decide whose opinion matters?

[chosenwang]

Whose opinion would you like to matter to you?

[idologue]

That's a difficult question. On a base level, everyone's opinion matters to me and has to matter to me.

That doesn't mean it's possible to consider everyone in every decision, of course. But it's seems dangerous to consider an opinion to be inherently worth less.

kitchen

[ well, crea was on his way to get something simple for breakfast. some cereal and fruit, maybe, to fill the stomach after a work out. but his expression perks up when he hears lacus' offer, a small smile on his lips. ]

I mean, if you don't mind, I'd love some. [ he approaches, taking a look. ] Do you have some fruit? If not, I don't mind cutting some.

[idologue]

[ Takers for her food! Good! After all that the weekend has chosen to be, she's extra glad she gets to do something for Crea, also. ]

I've washed some blueberries already and there's bananas ready for cutting over on the counter! If you want anything else, we'll have to check the pantry.

[dakicover]

Blueberries will be excellent!

[ he won’t overstep his boundaries. she’s already doing so much for him by making him breakfast. ]

How are you feeling? You’re not pushing yourself too hard, are you?

[ considering the mess that was trial. ]

[idologue]

Blueberry pancakes coming right up!

[ She's already got one out on a plate and a second is currently finishing in the pan, so she moves to artfully place it over the first and sprinkle the berries on top. There's a small sauce sauciere with with maple syrup on the plate as well, as an optional add-on.

It's nice that she can focus on arranging the breakfast while she answers the actual meaty question. ]

I'm alright now. I don't know when and if this sadness will pass, but I won't make myself feel any better for spending my days dwelling on it.

[dakicover]

That’s a really good way to look at it. You’re really strong, Lacus.

[ he leans back against the kitchen counter, glancing in her direction from the side, gaze wistful. ]

The sadness will take time to pass. Some days it’ll be more intense than others, like you might not be able to get through it. [ … ] But you will. I’m sure you will.

[idologue]

[ Strong, huh... ]

Some sadness may never pass, but it will shrink to a size that one is able to carry.

[ This is just one more bag of horrible emotions on the pile!!

Lacus finishes her work on the plate and presents it to Crea. ]

There you go. Do you mind if I join you for breakfast in a minute? I don't think anyone else is coming for a while.

[ it sure is! you would think that the world would get sick of throwing bad situations to carry, but it’s like fedex at this point.

crea looks at the plate with a warm smile, and nods. ]

Sure! I’ll wait for you so that we can eat together. It’s much better with friends.

[idologue]

Feel free to sit then - I won't be long!

[ Lacus has already put better for a new pancake into the pan anyway, so it's only a matter of minutes until she can come over to the tables with a pancake of her own, powdered with simple sugar and cinnamon. ]

Alright, let's enjoy! [ and after a beat: ] I'm glad you were there for Nona when she needed you.

[dakicover]

[ crea sits down with his pancakes, waiting patiently for her to come with. it's only when she starts that he does, but immediately pauses mid-bite when she thanks him.

give him a second to swallow, lacus. once he does, he smiles weakly, shaking his head. ]

Ah, no... it was nothing, really. I'm not really sure I did much of anything.

[idologue]

I don't think it was nothing. And I doubt Nona does, either.

[ She'd been so distressed... Lacus keeps her tone light though, taking a bite of her own pancake in between. ]

Don't sell your friendship short.

stage theatre

[finalmix]

[ new week, new island - josh is here exploring and loitering in the stage theatre complex so he's actually in the house seats while lacus is doing her thing with the vocal runs and warmups. ]

Is this the scale of performance venue you're used to?

[ mildly curious, since she seems quite at home on this stage! ]

[idologue]

[ Oh, oops! She hadn't realized there was someone in the room at all. Lacus waves and comes towards the corner of the stage for easier conversation. ]

It is! Though it's been years since I actively performed.

[ She retired at 16... ]

It's such a nostalgic feeling though - really makes me miss rehearsals!
