Congratulations, you've won the lottery this fine execution day!

Though, perhaps it really isn't an execution day, given the kittybots don't seem to be rousing people to go to the sandbar yet again -- but you're given no peace, because four of you will be beset by an absolutely infernal beeping noise. It would be familiar, if anyone but Zelkov and Haruka had heard it before, but no one has.

And now you're the proud successors of auditory cue hell: the insistent noise will lead you all the way to Kingfisher's Retreat, pointing you towards the waterfall side of the island. As you get closer to the crystal pool, you may start noticing disturbed sand and dirt, foliage... Almost like something large and not particularly delicate crashed its way through the growth and the footpaths, shoving everything out of its way...

Hmm. Surely there's nothing amiss here! But you may want to make sure you have your weapons on hand and your eyes and ears peeled.

[Temenos is quickly running out of skill points energy to keep up his light magic, but he's going to try to get in one last Holy Light at the Nomu's face to give Wang Lu an opening for his Super Special Awesome attack.]

Everyone, trap it and focus it down now!

In the meantime, Shuda is also going to race in, hoping to just parkour right up the thing's body so that he can get better access to that (ew) brain.

[ She'll swiftly collect the kunai just in case. Could come in handy if yet another ball attack happens.

After the explosions, Moravia throws the two sets of vaguely sphere-shaped katamari debris and sticky ball combo she put together at Maxeta's feet. She's deliberately aiming in a way that tries to maximize the amount of exposed sticky ball area towards the feet and ground. And avoiding friendly fire, of course. Wild guess, but maybe their feet are not immune to its own powers? ]

[ With the Nomu bracing against the attack and taking a step back, he's going to take a step forward and keep that closeness. He is used to having plot protection or some bullshit that means he'll come out on top, so he isn't going to disengage or try to block from the creature reaching for him. Just going to try to keep pushing against it with his sword while everyone else joins in. ]

[Perhaps the Nomu is getting more used to the attacks to its face -- this time all it does is try to duck, even if it doesn't manage to avoid the attack properly; still, the attack doesn't make it roar the way it did before. Either that or Temenos really needs an SP potion at this point. Face smoking, it does run right into Shuda's carpet bombing for yet another one-two combo!

The bombs don't stagger it, but they do slow it down and make it crash right onto Ibuki's... should we call them sticky traps? Sticky traps! Alas, it was a good idea, but all that happens is that the Nomu... somehow bounces a bit off its own hairballs, so Shuda is going to have to like, use his full height here.

Since both Wang Lu and Shuda are trying to tank the Nomu tanking them... that's a lot of closeup targets. The Nomu closes its hand on whoever is closest, with a grip that can crack both armor and bone. Yikes. You may need a bit more firepower in here.]

[This is absolutely NOT Shuda's day. It really has not been his week at all, honestly, but this is probably the most pressing (ha ha) concern of all. Good thing he is wearing actual armor at the moment, because otherwise this would be a lot worse than it is! It takes at least a little of that pressure off his poor ribs, but he definitely feels a couple of them crack there anyway. Good thing he's so used to pain by this point that even that isn't enough to ruin his focus for more than the briefest moment.

Immediately he targets its eyes again with a pair of explosions, trying to get it to let go of him.]

[Temenos is so fucking tired of this thing by this point. He needs to conserve whatever SP he has left to heal with, so he starts looking around to...]

Very well. If brute force isn't the answer...

[...the deeper depths of the pool.]

Moravia, ready the boulder. I have an idea.

[He looks over toward the others.]

Try to lure it into the deep water if you can!

[ Oh yikes.

Time to move to swing his blade at the arm to help break Shuda free ]

Let him go!

—Got it.

[ It doesn't take her long to realize what Temenos is getting at. Good thing she didn't splinter it earlier!

She steps closer to the boulder's general area, ready to move it at any signal. As much as she wants to move it now, there's only one huge boulder, and she'd rather make it count. What she's looking for are two main conditions: a free Shuda and a Maxeta close enough to the deeper end of their not-so-kiddie pool. ]

[The eyesplosions still make the Nomu roar, like clockwork -- but it's got a free hand, so instead of letting go, it tightens its grip as it staggers a little between all the struggling and attacks levied at it. It is pretty close to the edge of that crystal pool still, the soothing light blue depths darkening to deep turquoise and then to black water just over there.

And it doesn't seem as though it has the power of levitation beyond the tiny bounce it just did. Small mercies.

Wang Lu's attack shakes its arm a bit, but just like before, most attacks are only able to either shallowly cut its body or deflect off and mess up its aim. It might be a good idea to concentrate some firepower if you don't want Shuda swimming with the fishes.]

[Shit.

This only way this is going to work is if they can free Shuda too. Temenos is going to have to use more magic. Hopefully it's enough.]

Release him!

[Here comes another Holy Light on the Nomu's arm!]

[More explosions from Shuda, but notably, they're NOT focused on the Nomu's arm, but rather aimed at its head-- if this is distracting it long enough for the others to get some good hits in, then so be it.

He has no regrets.]

[ All right, immediately throwing away yet another energy preservation plan. Which sucks because she's starting to feel the fatigue, letting Shuda die here would be a major, probably unrecoverable setback.

So Moravia places her hand forward. For a second, red hexagon-like shapes appear out of thin air in front of her. The next moment, she sends forth a shockwave, confident enough in her aim that she'll miss the other three. ]

[ Whacking with his sword isn't doing anything, so it's time to shift gears. Once again, he's powering up his sword and it'll glow with a warm light. Leaping backwards as he brings the blade down and sending the energy in a shockwave at the arm in hopes it'll let Shuda go. ]

[Luckily for Shuda, it's not yet the time for a 10-chapter shounen flashback arc.

The Nomu does its weird roar-squeal, so that was definitely effective, along with the attacks directed at its arm; its grip loosens just enough to allow Shuda to slide free, bumpity-bump down on the rocks before the really deep water, even as the Nomu itself starts actually windmilling its arms like a cartoon villain (watch your head, everyone).

Almost in comical slow motion, Moravia's red hexagons score a direct hit, just enough to push the flailing creature back into the water from whence it came (not quite the right water, but close enough!). It's debatable whether Nomus can swim, but this one is still just waving its arms around.

It's a good opening, before it remembers how to do anything else.]

[Thank the gods, for whatever worth they have.]

Moravia, now!

[BOULDER TIME BOULDER TIME]

[REALLY, they didn't all have to waste their MP on him...

But's he's not unconscious yet, which means he'll be targeting a group of explosions to try to herd the creature even closer towards the deeper water so that Moravia can knock it in with that boulder.]

[ Shuda has no rights after doing what he did!

Anyways, since he's been let go, Wang Lu is going to move quickly to grab Shuda and make sure he's out of the way of stupid creatures. No more canned beef for bad monsters ]

I got him! [ Even if he's still pew pewing away with his explosions ]

[ BOULDER TIME ]

Here goes!

[ Time to burn a lot of energy on this attack! At the signal, she immediately stops what she's doing and yanks the boulder off the ground with a gesture. Even during liftoff, she's aiming towards the Nomu, calculating the angle she would need to force boulder and grape into the deep end. ]

A present for the trouble you've caused.

[ A warning for the others to get out of the way and do whatever else they need to do. And so she starts the boulder's sharp, slightly diagonal descent. ]

[Between the lack of swimming lessons, the last flurry of explosions, and its own too-bulky weight, the Nomu takes another direct hit from the Moravia Special: Bouldering with Grape Juice. The creature completely disappears beneath the boulder, though Moravia with her telekinesis will be able to tell that there's still struggle going on.

She's going to need to hold that boulder down for a good few dozen seconds, but luckily the Nomu isn't quite as imposing underwater as it would be anywhere else. Moreover, once it's completely out, any leftover globules will lose their adhesion, so Moravia is free and Temenos can probably retrieve his shoe, if he still wants it. Perhaps their choice of battlefield was both a blessing and a curse, this time.

Congratulations, Maxeta the Nomu is dead.]

[ And right on cue over the intercomm system is a voice you don't normally here from it. Someone has decided it's his turn to take the wheel for once. ]

It's a really stupid quirk but it's annoying ain't it? Maybe we should have saved more of him but whatever.

Anyway, grats on your kill, I thought you were gonna time out there for a while. That Nomu's one of mine technically, but you gave it a buff so I figured I'd see how that build worked so thanks.

You never know what you're gonna find when you sneak around hidden labs, huh? Most things are pretty cranky when you pull 'em from another world, you know.

... So that's a Nomu. Not surprising they're durable, all things considered, but I wouldn't have thought you could create them like that.

[Overhaul's lazy voice across the speaker, any other emotion brushed out by the staticky quality of it.]

Thanks for the data, all of you. That lab's got a few eccentricities, so you're better off not using it again. Don't think it's usable after coughing up one of those, anyway.

Go ahead and compare notes with your buddies. I'm sure Zelkov and Haruka have a bit more knowledge they want to share.

Yeah, the rules regarding its stickiness were a pain to suss out.

[ For someone who put a large amount of strength to drown a grape, she sounds rather amused once she hears Shigaraki and Overhaul's voices. In fact, she's still pushing down on the boulder as she speaks. Maxeta and the Balls can live under the bridge forever. ]

You're welcome. I think I deserve an increase in allowance after all that. Or a new wardrobe. How about you add some brands from Joshua's world to the inventory?

[The last thing Temenos wants to hear after all of that is Shigaraki's nonchalance over their efforts. But whatever, it's over.

He staggers to the nearest sitting spot to collapse onto in order to catch his breath. He has some healing ahead of him and then he's going to need a fucking nap.]
