//EXECUTION; WK2
Execution
Come Sunday morning, another announcement rings out through the island, though you probably have a better idea what it's about, and of the person speaking on the other end. According to your administrators, two sacrifices per week are required, and that time has come.
Unlike earlier, the kitty bots won't force anyone to go, but they will cheerfully inform all island goers that the execution is starting soon and they shouldn't miss out! The sandbar has also reappeared, a fitting enough stage for condemning a life as well as taking one. Both your administrators are present, along with two figures directly in the middle of the amphitheater. (( OOC: Executions are voluntary except for the executed and executioner. The path back to the island will also remain for the entirety of the execution, so characters may leave whenever they wish as well.))

Do they really need to make a mockery of it as well? ...Aren't you a little angry?

[ he folds his arms across his chest, letting out a small sigh. ]
All of this is pretty backwards, no? I don’t expect much from them in the first place, but this is an unnecessary performance. They could’ve just killed him during the night, but they decided to do this.

[ There's sort of a recurring pattern. But... refreshments, really. She sighs too. ]

[ he sighs, still smiling wryly as he continues watching. ]
Sonya’s apparently throwing his life away, but he doesn’t necessarily have to. Imagine if he had fought. Imagine if he had overpowered Xiao. Then the role of a “sacrifice” would most likely fall on her, wouldn’t it?

...Do you think that's why they did it this way? They don't really care who it is. As long as there's a sacrifice.

[ a pause, tapping the sand with his foot. ]
I don’t think the island here is gonna be picky about who it is. Lands don’t really have a sense of justice, as far as I’m aware. So as long as it meets the quota, then it should be appeased— this is probably just our dear administrators’ way of making us feel better about it all. “We’re sacrificing the murderer,” or something like that.

[ And Crea has a point about the island. She nods again. ]
...I guess it's easier for them to get us to agree like this. If the island didn't "need" two sacrifices, what would we do? Would everyone really be able to keep living normally next to someone who killed another one of us?

[ maybe if there was no other option, crea could endure it, but she's right. it's an unpleasant feeling. ]
And it's not like any of us are running to give our lives to this place. So the so called "trial" is just a way to find a second sacrificial candidate, though I'd say it's maybe half a level above drawing sticks.

[ "Better" on which axis is vague. But to be fair, she's pretty distracted. ]

[ ... ]
But that doesn't mean that we can't exhaust our options, right? That's probably the best way that we can honor the dead.

...I think so too. I hope we can speak later, Crea.
