WEEK 2; TRIAL

TRIAL

Whether you investigated or decided to take it easy, before you know it the speakers crackle to life instructing you to head to the beach. This is a demand not a request, and anyone who doesn't comply will find themselves forcibly moved there by the kitty bots—even if it takes a whole swarm of them.

Once you get there, you'll see that this isn't quite a beach party, instead a gigantic sandbar dotted with some type of constructs has risen out of the sea and tides. The path to the sandbar is solid enough even if it is relatively narrow, and once you arrive you'll find that you're far out in the ocean, way farther than it's comfortable to swim.

And once everyone is gathered, the pathway recedes back into the sea leaving you trapped here, all twenty-eight of you. At least there's ample seating, a kind of amphitheater made of sand with space in the middle for grandstanding or dramatic revelations. Though the area is mostly open, there are lone pieces of sand wall around the edges, maybe to dissuade you from tossing someone into the ocean without stopping you entirely. Thankfully, a lone outhouse rests again one of the walls just in case you need to use the bathroom, though it's not much in the way of actual privacy.

Settle in, get comfortable or just complain about all the sand you'll be tracking back, if you make it back that is. There's still another sacrifice to be chosen after all according to your administrators and—

Maybe you've noticed there's no palm trees or speakers here? It's just you, and the sand. For now.
(( OOC: Welcome to your first trial! You'll have 7 hours (8PM EST/5PM PST) to find the killer and send them off their death, if you believe in justice at least. Since this is scapegoat style, finding the correct killer is not mandatory!

Please remember to vote before then unless you've spoken to a mod, as votes are our stand-in for AC. ))

I prefer the quiet.

Is that all?
passetemps: (i didn't get to really pet it)

[personal profile] passetemps 2023-05-27 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I prefer the quiet, and I wanted to make sure the garden memorial was maintained properly since it has now been a week since Merlin's passing.

I see! And do you make a habit of frequenting the garden at night? That seems like an odd time to go for a stroll... if you don't mind me saying.
passetemps: (do you love cotton candy?)

[personal profile] passetemps 2023-05-27 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I do. I do not typically sleep a full night at a time. Those in my cabana should be able to attest to this.

Then it would seem we owe you some degree of leeway, hm? Dรปment notรฉ, Zelkov. I'll be back if I have more questions.
passetemps: (i'm doing this out of sheer guilt)

[personal profile] passetemps 2023-05-27 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you.

Were you two close? [ Not related to anything of the trial. He's just curious ]
passetemps: (you're just a scared little kitty)

[personal profile] passetemps 2023-05-27 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Relatively speaking, I suppose. I shared a room with him, and though he was sometimes overly ebullient, the positive energy was not entirely unwelcome.

[ He'll give a nod. ] It was hard not to be fond of him, even with the short amount of time we had.

Zelkov, I recall your offer on the network. Did anyone request your services to work with confections by chance?

[He is assuming Zelkov knows how.]
passetemps: (a moment of silence please)

[personal profile] passetemps 2023-05-27 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
No. I only instructed Xiao in the art of meat-filled potato rolls.

[personal profile] plunges 2023-05-27 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I can confirm.

Ahh, if only it were so simple.

And no one that you have discussed hobbies with has mentioned enjoying confections or toying with machines?
passetemps: (they tried to make it into things)

[personal profile] passetemps 2023-05-27 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Magolor spoke of an experience with ancient machinery, but that is all I can recall.

Holo screens aren't very ancient though?

[personal profile] dupiety 2023-05-27 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid I wouldn't have much room for reference, myself. The machinery here is very futuristic to me, but perhaps not so much for others.
passetemps: (don't let me forget)

[personal profile] passetemps 2023-05-27 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Likewise.
