WEEK 2; TRIAL

TRIAL

Whether you investigated or decided to take it easy, before you know it the speakers crackle to life instructing you to head to the beach. This is a demand not a request, and anyone who doesn't comply will find themselves forcibly moved there by the kitty bots—even if it takes a whole swarm of them.

Once you get there, you'll see that this isn't quite a beach party, instead a gigantic sandbar dotted with some type of constructs has risen out of the sea and tides. The path to the sandbar is solid enough even if it is relatively narrow, and once you arrive you'll find that you're far out in the ocean, way farther than it's comfortable to swim.

And once everyone is gathered, the pathway recedes back into the sea leaving you trapped here, all twenty-eight of you. At least there's ample seating, a kind of amphitheater made of sand with space in the middle for grandstanding or dramatic revelations. Though the area is mostly open, there are lone pieces of sand wall around the edges, maybe to dissuade you from tossing someone into the ocean without stopping you entirely. Thankfully, a lone outhouse rests again one of the walls just in case you need to use the bathroom, though it's not much in the way of actual privacy.

Settle in, get comfortable or just complain about all the sand you'll be tracking back, if you make it back that is. There's still another sacrifice to be chosen after all according to your administrators and—

Maybe you've noticed there's no palm trees or speakers here? It's just you, and the sand. For now.
(( OOC: Welcome to your first trial! You'll have 7 hours (8PM EST/5PM PST) to find the killer and send them off their death, if you believe in justice at least. Since this is scapegoat style, finding the correct killer is not mandatory!

Please remember to vote before then unless you've spoken to a mod, as votes are our stand-in for AC. ))

[ this might actually be a good idea since this was the one that was on the ground and not right side up? ]

[Makes eye contact with Magolor, perhaps having a moment of meaningful revelation through nothing but the language of his soulful gaze.

Ah.

... Beelzebub.

Mm?

[Hello his name is Beelzebub.]

What's up?

[She hands him the sticky goop cloth, which is actually a strip ripped from her extra large t-shirt.]

This is from the can that spilled. If I was going to dose someone, I wouldn't want it easily accessible in its container.

Do you mind?

[personal profile] gluttoning 2023-05-27 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. You just want me to taste it, right?

[Taking the cloth, giving it a sniff before bringing it to his mouth.

I hate this but here we are nonetheless.]

[SIGHS, but shakes his head towards Waltaquin and Magalor.]

It's just the drink. I don't even taste the candy on this.
necrotiem: (you got tired of my scheming)

[personal profile] necrotiem 2023-05-27 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Gross... but also intriguing? She's looking at him with subdued interest.]

Well, that's one method of subduing him we can strike out, at least. Strange that there was no candy in it. Perhaps it spilled before he had the chance?

Your services are appreciated, Beelzebub.

Mn.

If there was a struggle at the arcade, maybe someone spilled it.

Or someone was drinking it? [That might also explain the different composition.]

It wasn't done especially violently, so we can assume it was merely knocked over or dropped, not, say...thrown in a fit of aggression.

Good point.

It's a lot of sugar. Chai could have knocked it over himself.

The problem is that it doesn't look like there was a struggle, but who knows, maybe they were just careful enough to not disturb anything.

[ with a small sigh: ]

None that either Waltaquin or I found. Just the footprints, which might or might not be Chai's...

I'll try and find out.

His shoes smell like Monster™, unfortunately. They're probably his footprints, but I guess it still can't hurt to see if anyone else smells like candy.

[ given what else they've figured out. ]

Could it have been knocked over by the noise that woke us up? It was like another earthquake, wasn't it?

Then it wouldn't have had time to dry. Waltaquin got there not long after I woke up and started trying to figure out what happened, but I think part of it was still sticking while she was getting some of it onto that piece of cloth she brought.
