Whether you investigated or decided to take it easy, before you know it the speakers crackle to life instructing you to head to the beach. This is a demand not a request, and anyone who doesn't comply will find themselves forcibly moved there by the kitty bots—even if it takes a whole swarm of them.

Once you get there, you'll see that this isn't quite a beach party, instead a gigantic sandbar dotted with some type of constructs has risen out of the sea and tides. The path to the sandbar is solid enough even if it is relatively narrow, and once you arrive you'll find that you're far out in the ocean, way farther than it's comfortable to swim.

And once everyone is gathered, the pathway recedes back into the sea leaving you trapped here, all twenty-eight of you. At least there's ample seating, a kind of amphitheater made of sand with space in the middle for grandstanding or dramatic revelations. Though the area is mostly open, there are lone pieces of sand wall around the edges, maybe to dissuade you from tossing someone into the ocean without stopping you entirely. Thankfully, a lone outhouse rests again one of the walls just in case you need to use the bathroom, though it's not much in the way of actual privacy.

Settle in, get comfortable or just complain about all the sand you'll be tracking back, if you make it back that is. There's still another sacrifice to be chosen after all according to your administrators and—

Maybe you've noticed there's no palm trees or speakers here? It's just you, and the sand. For now.

Mm, there was another gummy in the lad's pockets, so wouldn't be surprised if he had a whole handful of 'em that spilled when he got in the wreck.

If we assume that's the case though, it'd set Chai's skewering to be before the wreck.

Do you suppose those gummies spilled into his gaping chest wound upon his death? Heh-ahaha! But I jest.

Still, I wonder why Monsieur Chai had those gummies on his person...? Had he brought them with him, or had one been planted in his pocket?

He was doing experiments with sour candy and sports drinks last night, so that's probably where all of those came from.

That's one mystère solved! Perhaps the stuffing of the gummies into his wound was a poor effort to disguise the crime? I can't imagine what nécessité there was to do such a thing.

He liked drinking energy drinks with candy in them. And Magalor said he was drinking those at the arcade. So him having leftovers from that would make sense.

If they weren't covered in blood, though, someone put them in from the front. If it went through his body, like a kabob, they'd be bloody.

Oui. The stuffing of the gummies into his wound seemed like an afterthought. I certainly can't imagine it was part of the killer's original plan.

[Speaking of which, Billy has two bloody gummy worms and also the spare one from Chai's pocket: how bloody are they, and does the spare worm have any blood on it?]

Hmm. These were right inside of Chai, but the one from his pocket's clean as a whistle. If we assume this means the sick bastard decided to stuff the lad up, we gotta ask if they done it before or after sending him in a wreck.

In short, how alive do we think Chai was when he got taken on a joy ride?
