WEEK 2; TRIAL

TRIAL

Whether you investigated or decided to take it easy, before you know it the speakers crackle to life instructing you to head to the beach. This is a demand not a request, and anyone who doesn't comply will find themselves forcibly moved there by the kitty bots—even if it takes a whole swarm of them.

Once you get there, you'll see that this isn't quite a beach party, instead a gigantic sandbar dotted with some type of constructs has risen out of the sea and tides. The path to the sandbar is solid enough even if it is relatively narrow, and once you arrive you'll find that you're far out in the ocean, way farther than it's comfortable to swim.

And once everyone is gathered, the pathway recedes back into the sea leaving you trapped here, all twenty-eight of you. At least there's ample seating, a kind of amphitheater made of sand with space in the middle for grandstanding or dramatic revelations. Though the area is mostly open, there are lone pieces of sand wall around the edges, maybe to dissuade you from tossing someone into the ocean without stopping you entirely. Thankfully, a lone outhouse rests again one of the walls just in case you need to use the bathroom, though it's not much in the way of actual privacy.

Settle in, get comfortable or just complain about all the sand you'll be tracking back, if you make it back that is. There's still another sacrifice to be chosen after all according to your administrators and—

Maybe you've noticed there's no palm trees or speakers here? It's just you, and the sand. For now.
(( OOC: Welcome to your first trial! You'll have 7 hours (8PM EST/5PM PST) to find the killer and send them off their death, if you believe in justice at least. Since this is scapegoat style, finding the correct killer is not mandatory!

Please remember to vote before then unless you've spoken to a mod, as votes are our stand-in for AC. ))

RAILWAY

[personal profile] conchy 2023-05-27 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Some sort of dreadful incident occurred on the railways...! Rather, I wish it were that exciting. We found a scattering of Γ©trange glass along the tracks, but that isn’t all! Would you believe me if I told you that glass was not glass at all, but sugar? Oh lΓ  lΓ ! Quite odd indeed...

Ah, but savoir: the source of the glasslike sugar is unclear. Did the culprit bring it with them? A midnight snack, perhaps? As for what may have broken the sugar, that’s also a mystΓ¨re!

Sugar from... candyland, probably?

How big was it, like? [ mimes making a sheet using his hands?? ] Big or small shards?
conchy: (19)

[personal profile] conchy 2023-05-27 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps so! They were relatively small shards... ah, and there weren't very many of them.

How much glass would you say there was? Enough to make a blade?
passetemps: (a box...?)

[personal profile] passetemps 2023-05-27 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it that sturdy, if it was made of sugar?
chosenwang: Made by Jodie (DNS without asking) (🌟22)

[personal profile] chosenwang 2023-05-27 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[ True.

Oh... ]
It might not need to be sturdy if someone made enough of them. At the golf course, I found hot and sweet smelling liquid. Someone may have been making a number of them there.

... if it was made of sugar, Chai's body temperature could have melted it if the killer left it in his body. That could explain why we didn't find the weapon anywhere nearby.
butcherspice: (SO TELL ME WHAT YA WANT)

[personal profile] butcherspice 2023-05-27 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
And explain how rough that hole looked...so we're lookin' for a real craftsman, are we?
dancing_flames: (Don't even think about it)

[personal profile] dancing_flames 2023-05-27 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It's possible.

Someone who can work with sugar and either knows or can figure out the go-carts.
butcherspice: (I told them you were livin)

[personal profile] butcherspice 2023-05-27 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Sugar's a fuckin' mess on top of it all--think someone might have a few traces of it left on 'em?
chosenwang: <user name="proverbially"> (🌟35)

[personal profile] chosenwang 2023-05-27 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
We do have someone who has quite the nose for food related items. Maybe he can sniff out our culprit?
butcherspice: (i won't be hasty)

[personal profile] butcherspice 2023-05-27 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Worth a shot, I'd say. But the smell must be waftin' all over the place now, might throw off his radar. Oughta check folks' clothes on top of it.
conchy: (15)

[personal profile] conchy 2023-05-27 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Non! Nothing so fantastical. The sugar was also rather gummy by the time we'd gotten to it, so I can't imagine it would have held up as a stabbing implement. Additionally, there was no blood on the sugar fragments.
chosenwang: <user name="proverbially"> (🌟31)

[personal profile] chosenwang 2023-05-27 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Those may have been just the leftover weapons. I found a slash in a tree with a bit sugar goop by it. [ Shuda also brings up an interesting point ]
conchy: (22)

[personal profile] conchy 2023-05-27 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
How curious! I suppose we shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the lethality of the sugar...

[Insofar as the tire is concerned, anyway. RIP tire.]

[personal profile] passetemps 2023-05-27 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
If we consider the theory that a sugar blade melted inside the wound, perhaps the worm confections were inserted to explain why there was sticky sugar inside?
dancing_flames: (Blue sky of victory)

[personal profile] dancing_flames 2023-05-27 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
... I think you nailed it. No one would think twice about a wound being sticky if it was stuffed full of candy.
