INVESTIGATION

The sun rises over sparkling waves and beaches -- and there are far more of them now, double the amount of sun and surf across the two unusual islands you've been forced to call home. Not that you were able to see the breaking dawn, given that you found yourself falling asleep at the stroke of midnight, regardless of how tired you were.

Your restful(?) sleep is brought to a sudden end at 7am with a booming whipcrack of sound; those on Seagull's Playground will hear it first, much louder than the karaoke windows shattering last night. Indeed, a window or two may crack in the arcade, but at least nothing else breaks as a new shockwave flashes out on that island. Those on Sungem's Peak will merely feel a stronger breeze and see some higher waves, but they'll certainly hear an echo of everything as they come to.

Given your sudden sleep and confinement (if you took notice in the midst of everything you were up to), it's understandably harder to keep track of your cabana-and-islandmates.

Now that you're very likely very awake -- perhaps it's time to take a look around outside, and see if this week brings better tidings than the last.

[ He eventually snuck his way over here, so while Billy is looking at the body and Xiao is occupied with the go-kart, Wei Wuxian will take a look at the rest of the scene. What else is going on around here? ]

[ There's likely a lot of things going on, but a bit away from Chai's body is an overturned, oversized candy bowl that's... moving, every so often. ]

[diabolizes]

[ Well, alright then! Time to go get a look at that candy bowl.

Before he attempts to move it, Wei Wuxian will give it a decent look over for any marks or scratches along with anything else odd around the bowl itself before attempting to at least turn it over, or lift it up a good amount if it's too heavy. ]

[ There's not any major scratches, or damage to the bowl. Luckily it's not heavy, as it's made of plastic too. And for his searching WWX will get...

It's a mechanical cat! Maybe you've seen her around before with Chai? Her ears are flat against her head, and she immediately tries to hide in the nearest pile of easter grass but it's really not camouflage. She's also shaking, the poor thing. ]

[diabolizes]

[ Oh! A mechanical kitty! After taking a quick glance under the bowl for anything else, he crouches down in front of the pile of easter grass. ]

Here, kitty...

[ As he's trying to get her to come closer, he looks for any potential damage to her that he can see through the grass. Does she look completely unharmed? ]

[killerwaves]

[ Nothing else is under the bowl! She's clearly terrified and backs up into a prop of a gumdrop, but there's nowhere for her to really go without running past WWX. Sometimes when you flight or fight, freeze is really the best third option.

She also looks unharmed, just. Very, very, scared. ]

[diabolizes]

[ Poor thing. It's too bad he's not the best at dealing with pets in particular, so he doesn't want to try and scoop her up and make things worse. Instead, he'll just... sit on the ground and wait for her to come to him. He doesn't want to leave this cat here, especially if someone else might be able to take care of her. ]

[killerwaves]

[ It probably takes a while, but very eventually she comes over and just. Curls up in a tight ball next to him. At least she's pretty portable like this. ]

[diabolizes]

[ At last! He scoops her up into one of his arms. ]

Alright, little kitty. Let's go.

[ He'll give the area another look around while he's at it. Any strange things going on with the other props around here? ]

[ Well. As noted earlier, this section of mini-golf is dominated by a giant gingerbread man, hands outstretched as if he should be holding something? He definitely should be holding something, and glancing just below him you'll see an appropriately large sized present box, right in the middle of this courses golf "green" (the turf on the actual hole is mostly pastel colors to keep on candyland theme). ]

[ Yep, that present box should be in those arms. Wei Wuxian goes to get a better look at that imposing cookie. Any damage on the gingerbread man or on the present box that might offer some insight as to why it's on the ground now? He's keeping an eye out for marks or dents in particular. ]

[ The pink present box is dented, specifically on one of its sides. The dent isn't too large all things considered, and some flecks of pink paint seem to have been scuffed away.

As for the gingerbread man, he looks to be in good shape minus his missing present :(. ]

[ His poor present :(

Wei Wuxian digs his U-PINION out of his pocket and tries to snap a picture or two of the dent and some of that pink paint that's been scuffed. It's hard with a mechanical cat in one of his arms, but that's fine.

He'll do another sweep of the area for anything else like this that might be out of place. ]

[ While he's taking pictures of the fallen present, he'll notice that the the section of the course it's on has a rainbow motif, the rest of the incline being pink. It's always been like this so it seems it's more for random decoration really, but it's also notable because there's skidmarks leading from this particular square to where Xiao is currently inspecting balls. Gumballs and the go-kart that is. ]

[ Pink incline, huh? Just gonna snap a pic of that so it can be compared to the scuffed paint...

And then another of the skidmarks. Wei Wuxian will bend down as much as mechanical kitty allows to get a better look at them. Do these marks take any sharp or sudden turns, or leave behind a pattern that indicates strange movement? Wei Wuxian will follow them up to close to where Xiao is just in case there are any oddities or debris in those marks, but he'll leave the ball inspecting up to Xiao this time. ]

[ Just to clarify, the present is a hot pink and the raised area of the track WWX is currently on is a more pastel shade.

The skidmarks follow a course directly to where the Kart has breathed it's last. There's no other debris or marks either. ]

Well, it looks like his work here is done! Wei Wuxian will stuff his U-PINION back in his pocket and carry 808 to trial, if she lets him. ]
