INVESTIGATION

The sun rises over sparkling waves and beaches -- and there are far more of them now, double the amount of sun and surf across the two unusual islands you've been forced to call home. Not that you were able to see the breaking dawn, given that you found yourself falling asleep at the stroke of midnight, regardless of how tired you were.

Your restful(?) sleep is brought to a sudden end at 7am with a booming whipcrack of sound; those on Seagull's Playground will hear it first, much louder than the karaoke windows shattering last night. Indeed, a window or two may crack in the arcade, but at least nothing else breaks as a new shockwave flashes out on that island. Those on Sungem's Peak will merely feel a stronger breeze and see some higher waves, but they'll certainly hear an echo of everything as they come to.

Given your sudden sleep and confinement (if you took notice in the midst of everything you were up to), it's understandably harder to keep track of your cabana-and-islandmates.

Now that you're very likely very awake -- perhaps it's time to take a look around outside, and see if this week brings better tidings than the last.

Anyways, the surrounding go-karts seem to be surprisingly in good condition. Nothing's off about them—but since he's already looking downwards probably to get a good look at these well-made babies, he might spot something on the floor nearby... ]

[He'll bend down to get a better look. What might this "something" be...?]

[ It appears to be a discarded governor! Does this holy man know his machinery well? Regardless, it is quite clearly an object that is very much out of place in an area such as this. ]

[Machinery is still very novel in Solistia, so he has like, a basic understanding. That said, he does know enough to consider it out of place for sure. In the absence of being able to take a photo, he opts to bring the gear with him. Hopefully someone else has better mechanical knowledge than him. Chai would be one such person, but...rip.

Are there any tools around to go with it? Perhaps in or underneath one of the nearby go-karts?]

As for there being any tools that you might expect to be lying around when there's a gear out and about, there are none! ]

[He is curious about one thing regarding the tracks, but he'll wait until Psyche has had her look first. In the meantime, he's going to check for signs if any of the other go-karts have been used recently, touching them for warmth.]

[ The other go-karts are free of signs of use! So, he won't feel any warmth emanating from them to suggest that they were utilized recently. ]

[Hmmm. So it really was just the one.

With the general go-karts area checked, Temenos is going to take a slightly different approach to the tire tracks. Do they happen to pass by any of the track finish lines? Or did this go-kart go completely off-road?]

[ It went completely off-road and straight on over to that golf course! No joyrides were happening on this raceway. ]

[Huh, guess they were there on a mission.

His next order of investigation is to check out the concessions to see if anything is off over there! May as well be thorough while he's here.]

[ The confcessions are free of sin! Everything is all good here. ]

[Good for them, good for them!

With that, he'll follow along to make sure everything is going okay with Psyche!]

[ Well, the good/bad news is that she doesn't know what she's doing... ]

Oh, Temenos... I haven't found much here. it looks like the tracks go straight ahead. Do you think whoever was driving meant to go this way?

[dupiety]

[She's doing just fine!! Temenos is also new to vehicles, so he gets it.

Looking on ahead into the golf course, he can see what became of the kart...]

The golf course has its own vehicles, so I don't see why they would need to drive a go-kart to it... Their go-kart never once touched the track, however, and if they didn't intend to go this way, then they made no attempt to correct themself.

Something is strange about the situation, that much is certain. We'll have to hear from those at the crash site to learn more.

Maybe they were here when they realized they needed one? Or perhaps if there were something different about these "karts"...?

[ Psyche glances between the tracks and Temenos again pensively. "Strange" is a mild word for everything about this island. ]

...I hope the others find something that will help.

Perhaps. Though I have only experienced a go-kart firsthand, so I cannot speak for the differences between the two vehicles.

I presume we'll have the opportunity to review what we've learned after the investigation period is over. We can question the others about the vehicles then.
