WEEK 2 INVESTIGATION
INVESTIGATION
The sun rises over sparkling waves and beaches -- and there are far more of them now, double the amount of sun and surf across the two unusual islands you've been forced to call home. Not that you were able to see the breaking dawn, given that you found yourself falling asleep at the stroke of midnight, regardless of how tired you were.
Your restful(?) sleep is brought to a sudden end at 7am with a booming whipcrack of sound; those on Seagull's Playground will hear it first, much louder than the karaoke windows shattering last night. Indeed, a window or two may crack in the arcade, but at least nothing else breaks as a new shockwave flashes out on that island. Those on Sungem's Peak will merely feel a stronger breeze and see some higher waves, but they'll certainly hear an echo of everything as they come to.
Given your sudden sleep and confinement (if you took notice in the midst of everything you were up to), it's understandably harder to keep track of your cabana-and-islandmates.
Now that you're very likely very awake -- perhaps it's time to take a look around outside, and see if this week brings better tidings than the last. (( OOC: Welcome to your first official investigation! This is similar to last week's peace week investigation: body discovery part comes first, free for all exploration for everyone until a body (or bodies) is found. Then we will move into the detailed investigation of body and locations! Good luck at Costco. ☆ ))

ARCADE

You're telling me we just slept through him running for his life or something...?
[ well. since he's here. does it look like chai left in a hurry, or are things mostly in place?
if nothing is immediately obvious- outside of the windows- he'll start from whichever games he remembers seeing chai at the night previous and working his way through the arcade. ]
no subject
First of all, as he's quite observant, there is immediately some things noticeable as off, or perhaps the term might be 'strange'. For example, there is that battery acid drink (it looks like Monsterâ„¢, mixed with some sour candy slipped inside) which has been left seemingly randomly half-full near an arcade cabinet. How about that? ]
no subject
no but could you imagine. anyway if he comes closer to that arcade cabinet does he notice anything off about it? or can he get an idea of what path chai might have taken out of the arcade because he clearly left at some point?
and also, if he does examine the battery acid drink more closely, are there any idk secrets left in it. on it. did chai leave a note anywhere. i don't know what to do with this other than keep it away from beel and maybe handle with gloves even if the most likely case is that no one's touched it other than chai. ]
no subject
As for any weird on-goings 'round about these parts, there is nothing off about the arcade cabinet. But soft! As Magolor is looking to try to deduce what kind of path Chai might have taken out of the arcade...he might stumble upon the sight of another one of these drinks spilt on the ground. It seems to have potentially been done sometime earlier, but most importantly there appear to be sticky footprints made from someone evidently having stepped into said liquid! Surely, nothing happens to be strange about those...?
In addition, the half-full battery acid drink has no hidden secrets other than the strips of sour candy (yum) inside. ]
no subject
unless chai just saw the rest of them falling unconscious and decided to get the hell out of dodge in case it was something like [GLaDOS voice] deadly neurotoxin? or maybe chai was spooked by someone inside of the arcade already? questions, questions.
let's take a closer look at the prints. are the footprints uh, sizable/whole enough to get a good idea of the size of? if magolor compares his own foot to it, how's it looking.
also, is there a noticeable trail for at least a few steps, or? either way once he's done squinting at sticky candy feetprints or anything else on the ground he'll head in the general direction they lead to see if there's any other weird things to find. ]
no subject
In addition, those footprints are real evident, no half-prints at all. But when comparing to his own, he can tell that they're a little larger than his! Also, the impression left by these prints suggests that they were made by someone walking leisurely, as opposed to running or anything to indicate a sort of distress in movement at the time!
One more thing, since Magolor is following along this route exactly, he will find that those prints lead from the Arcade to the Go-Kart area. ]
no subject
ah. the go-karts. wow there seems to be a crowd over there, huh? maybe he'll just hang out here for a while. for thoroughness's sake nothing else looks particularly out of place following that path out?
maybe they can find the culprit by checking everyone's shoes to see if they're still sticky ... or maybe chai stepped in his own drink like a silly billy because he for some reason was just ambling leisurely outside on the night he died. hmm. ]
no subject
Also edited this because this modly person forgot one more piece of evidence that Magolor would have noted, so please forgive.
Namely, when Magolor was looking at the arcade cabinet, he would have noticed the game arcade cabinet occasionally showed high scores, and a lot of the top scores are by someone named CHA. Nothing else would be notable about this, by the by. ]

quick q, how long does the monster mixup battery acid footprint trail go? just a few steps or is there a like, noticeably lengthy trail heading Out?
otherwise, he's going to take a step back to see if he missed anything obvious now that he's looking from an angle where at least something happened, then check the immediate area outside the arcade but before actually getting into the go-kart crew's business since they're clearly busy over there, and that'll probably be the last of it from him if there's still nothing. ]
no subject
And Magolor will not pick up/note anything else unusual on his thorough checking. ]
no subject
A second pair of eyes she may be, or moral(?) support for Magalor if it's needed. Are any of the machines damaged or are there other signs of gratuitous violence?]
no subject
There's also no additional signs of violence to be witnessed either. Unless you count the possibility thanks to a second, knocked over drink. Though, it seems like the type of 'knocked over' to suggest an accidental hit than purposeful, given it hasn't been flung across the floor or anything. ]
no subject
Okay, the spilled battery acid is interesting, but presuming Magalor is going to do the following and scrutinizing of those little feetsies...she will focus on the substance itself.
Is there an empty glass or like, Monster can or anything that might have held what was spilled? Any trash at all in the vicinity will catch her eye, actually, but she's starting off focused on vessels of liquid transportation]
We should try to get a bit of this wiped up before it fully dries, I suppose.
no subject
No oddities in trash is happening, but she can probably also catch sight of those intriguing (oooh~) sticky footprints that Magolor's checking out. ]
no subject
Waltaquin puts her new oversized shirt to good use but tearing off a square and wiping up some of the spill (but not the footprints). If it's still fairly recent-but-sticky, she figures it'll come up all right.
Said footprints do seem very intriguing and like the main feature of this scene... As expected, Magalor has the following underway, but is it possible to tell generally what kind of footwear might have made them?]
no subject
The stickiness comes up okayish. Not all of it, but some of it. Clearly, it's been there for awhile (hard to tell how long, though.)
As for 'if what kind of footwear can be deduced', that is not possible! ]
no subject
Also where is Beel when you really need him to lick some Monster.Bear with both me and her here, mods, but if she stands up and walks backwards from the footprints, does a wider view of the area reveal anything else eye-catching, like a personal effect left behind by someone who couldn't carry it out or something that looks like it's been moved?
Sometimes I feel like a crazy person in invest and this is one of those times but that'll probably be it for her.]
no subject
Sometimes, though, one has to be crazy in order go glean any other information, but she should find that there's nothing else noteworthy, in regards to additional potential eye-catching details or other personal effects.
Nothing else also has been moved around. ]
