Do you remember what it was like to get your first postcard? Maybe you don't, maybe you never got one at all, but no matter where you are, no matter WHEN you are, you'll find a particularly festive one slipped under your door, pillow, accompanied by a tinny meow.

Should you check the RSVP box YES on the back, you'll find youself whisked away to the nebula of the island you once called home. It's still purple and spacey, but there's holiday decorations to be had through the work of some festive cat bots that have whirred to life since your last visit. Yes, there's at least a few palm trees adorned with lights inspiring some type of cheer.

Since you're already here, why not catch up with your fellow islanders? As always, there's food for you to enjoy courtesy of the catbots, and there's even tasks if you feel like doing them for old times sake (or for the cool swag). There might even be a new face or two in the crowd, interdimensional invitations are a bit tricky to wrangle even if you're not a repurposed kittybot.

Jealous of what? [ Though he's starting to sound like a sullen kid, which isn't helping his case. ] Being picked on just because your the new one? Getting teased because you don't know how things work around there? Been there, done that.

[ Maybe the old man wasn't exaggerating that much after all. ]

I'm just used to it, I don't like it! Just how long do you think I've known that guy for? [ He sighs, it's really been a long time now. ]

[ Hold up. She had other thoughts before, but they're taking a backseat to that question. ]

Huh??? I'm not that old! [ You're killing him, Clover. ] I'm normal... enough. I don't have his cheaty telomere powers or whatever, at any rate!

Oh, good, my stomach is safe from that cursed thought.

[ Celebratory munch time. ]

If it helps, you definitely don't act like you're older than like...22. You're more like a newbie pirate than anything.

[ She vaguely gestures in his direction with her fork before taking yet another bite. ]

... Thanks? That's flattering, I guess, at least. [ Thanks half-asian genes? Taking a long drink because wow, you stress him out, girl. ]

[ Wow, don't drink yourself into a stupor now. ]

Sure, let's go with that.

[ And with that distraction out of the way... ]

So how long have you known him for anyway? Like, 5 years? There's no way it can be a decade.

[nullifying]

Well, it's precisely a decade, rather. Closer to eleven, probably? [ He's so tired. What's keeping track of time? ]

I know that doesn't make a difference to him, but he is 93. [ A beat. ] And before you start, I know it because I get invited to his birthday parties by PANDRA.

Whoa...that makes sense and all, but geez, you're older than I thought.

[ She already thinks of Hyoubu as a walking dinosaur. Andy could've told her he was as old as the universe, and she would've said something like "Yeah, that tracks". What's actually surprising to her is Andy's age here. Because that means... ]

Both of you are waaay too old for this pinin' business, I swear.

[nullifying]

I'm half-Japanese, so, probably that?

[ He manages not to splutter. Somehow. And keep his cool, just a tinge of indignance. Probably from how many times Sophie or anyone else brings this up. ] There's no pining.

And you know, he's like, sixty years older than me.

[ She waves a hand around as if to say "yeah, probably" or maybe "sure you aren't". Or both? Both is good. ]

What, like that's an actual obstacle here? Not my cup of tea, but we're talkin' 'bout you two.

[nullifying]

[ Though his words are flippant, there's also something else under it. ] And why must be paired off with some old man that keeps insisting on trying to sacrifice is life at any old time?

[fourtuity]

[ She pauses for a few moments, both mouth and hands unmoving. The change in energy is palpable, especially with someone so gleeful earlier. ]

It's not like you hate him, right? I wouldn't even bother saying all this if I thought he didn't care more than he lets on. He sounded so...resigned.

[ After she says that, she methodically spears more food with her fork. ]

[nullifying]

... It'd be easier if I could hate him.

[ It's very loaded, but well. He's not the more stubborn one here, really. ]

[ In one smooth movement, she eats the food off the fork before swiveling it around to poke him with the handle. ]

You sure you want to?

[nullifying]

[ He smiles wryly, questioning why is he talking about this to someone he just randomly ran into, when he can't even admit these things to his close friends? He squeezes one hand around the limiter, still deformed for all these years, around his neck. ]

Between the two of us, who do you think is always the one bringing he might die at any moment?

Ugh, [ He puts a hand in his hair and messes it up in frustration. ] why am I talking about that idiot to some pipsqueak I just met anyway? [ His world didn't revolve around him! And Hyoubu certainly didn't want it to. It doesn't matter that it was already too late for that. ]

You are short though. [ And he's just tall. ] And I'm pretty opposite of a pirate though? [ Other than the whole PANDRA thing, he's always worked for some kind of government entity... Funny, that. Considering his feelings about things. ]

[ Yeah, Andy's safe...for now. ]

Shut up, you're just a beanstalk! [ And not even a cool one! Totally not questioning Hyoubu's tastes, nope. ] And whaddya call the eyepatch then? Don't tell me you don't know that they're a pirate thing.

It's perfectly practical for other things than piracy! It's a limiter.
