That's a message from Chirpy, as that group leaves the records room. Though really, there's not much time left; a fact impressed upon you regardless of whether you had a overly helpful bumbling robot or not.

Take some time to discuss what you've found and equip your new found loot in the open research lab. It's not a bad place for an impromptu meeting considering it's size.

Though sooner, rather than later, you'll need to head deeper still, to meet your two administrators, who surely know you're coming by now.

[Good call. They're really only useful for possible electrifying if they're near Chuuya, so the bots are forced to try and shield themselves against the weight and zap of their own hubris.

Their shields do manage to take the brunt of a lot of the damage, but he does manage to knock out a few.

It does look like there's an end to the bots, too! It's not like they're coming out from the back forever. There's probably an end to this in sight soon.]

[ don't have to tell him twice; while the rest of the gang is distracting the bots, he's going to maneuver his way through the forest because he has too many portal privileges. but anyway

a magic circle carves its way open. magolor's summoning that sword of his, but unlike previous occasions where he grabbed it by the hilt to demonstrate 'see? perfectly normal sword!'

this time the blade that rises from the circle is markedly larger, and suspended in the air only by his magic. sure, it might not be building leveling big, but we don't need to do that (and probably shouldn't since we're underwater)— it just needs to try to carve a pathway clear of as much of overhaul's walls and obstacles as possible. ]

[ at first she won't waste time and repeatedly smash the ones in her psychokinetic hold against the dome. but the one that does get away from her hold when it weakens? yeah, she'll try to throw spikes to create more distance before the plan to attack the dome starts ]

[We'll say Magolor's sword attack and Waltaquin's sword attack happen either in unison or in quick succession, since why not stack the sword attacks, really.

There's movement from within the dome, for anyone watching very closely, just as things are charging up, magical circles are happening, and something about the dome changes just before the hit -- there's a blinding blast of light, then another as both attacks go in.

Once the smoke clears, Lacus is free to dash through the cleared space -- it looks like the dome itself has been bisected by all the commotion -- the couch is definitely not intact, everything is smoking at least a little. But behind the dome is a wall of half-melted metal, followed by what look like a few more walls fading into shadow behind, each successively smaller but less damaged.

There's what sounds like a clapping noise, echoing from the back of the cargo bay.]

And here I thought you'd forgotten what you were trying to fight, exactly.

[ Oh, good, they are making damage. Lacus won't waste time entering the former dome area - as long as she remains in SEED Mode, her reflexes are far above an average human being.

And then there's walls, but there is also intuitive knowledge within her - a whisper from that mysterious Corrin, she'd like to think.

There is something she can do to clear the path.

She just needs to let it happen.

Instinct. Following instinct only. ]

Torrential Roar!!

[ A wording she's known from Zelkov's profile, which never meant anything to her - now sending a water blast cutting through the walls. If all goes right, anyway.

The moment after she sends that one off, she'll summon the Wakizashi. ]

[ Being protected by Waltaquin's special boy means that he has enough of a chance to use Caliburn's shockwave again. He can hear Lacus calling out a spell, so he waits for that water blast to being to recede before sending out another shockwave from Caliburn. Might as well follow an attack like that up with something—keeping the hits coming, as they say. ]

[Alas, poor waddledeegon, sacrificed 'pon the altar of shish kabobs -- it does successfully manage to protect the other combatants from harm, even if it's kind of suspended in the air by multiple metallic spikes now.

As for Alecto's Sword, it finds its target straight and true.

Behind them, though, Athos' panting hisses sound as it struggles to its feet and slinks back, looking for an opening where it's still encircled by spikes and combatants.]

[ Xiao's gonna assist Chuuya -- without his spear, because he tossed that on the ground, but he's gonna use his physical strength to try and shatter some of those shields and push whatever bots he can into the spikes before he can get tasered. He's trying different movements since they've memorized some of his patterns. ]

[OUR LITTLE WADDLE BOY... shooting laser beams and protecting the rest of the party.

As he begins to fade back into purple particles, Waltaquin lets out a small keen of pain. She was not, it turns out, fast enough. Stronger together, huh?

A few spikes managed to make it to her, but though they've lacerated her shoulder and waist quite nastily, the overall damage is relatively minor thank you benevolent dice gods for the good damage roll.]

[Lacus is speedy, and the water is fast -- there's only a few meager metal walls to really buffet the blast -- though as it comes flooding in, several of the metal walls fuse together for sturdiness and then start to curve. It looks like Overhaul is working to mitigate the impact of the attack -- it allows some of the resulting water to pour back, like a wave rolling over, but it also blasts the wall down and floods the area properly.

There's definitely a tsk in there somewhere, lost in the roar of water and metal slamming into each other.

The next attack from Caliburn opens a bigger hole in the already half-melted walls; Magolor's sword is no joke, and everything is already brittle in a tide of cold water and hot sword beams. There's a muffled series of explosive sounds -- sounds like that one may have hit the back of the cargo bay, or possibly some things along the way.

All's quiet on the bird front...]

[A few moments later, the half-melted walls reshape themselves into spikes -- reminiscent of lances, they grow outward, fast, towards the dome and anyone that might be coming that way.]

[ Psyche's gaze snaps between her, and Athos beginning to stir again. She hesitates a second, but she's counting on Baizhu and his stealth healing she lifts her hand for another blast of divinity aimed again for the burns in Athos' armor.

Second time lucky? ]

[ Having just cast the attack, Lacus is the person physically closest to those metal walls - closest to those spikes. And even with her SEED mode instincts, she can only avoid some of them.

But instincts are one thing, actual training and routine in movement is another. Lacus doesn't have that. She tumbles.

And winds up skewered through the collar area.

This isn't good. ]

[ RIP WADDLEDEEGON he will remember you well. He has no idea they lost his bestie on the other side of the spike wall thankfully.

He does see Walt's damage. ] Walt?!

[ Hello? He can't run to her cause it'll leave the other two vulnerable so he'll try to run over to Athos instead, aiming to shove his sword into any gaps in that armor after Psyche's strike ]

[Athos actually tries to climb the walls when he sees Wang Lu coming, because this one really doesn't seem like a good snack to go after -- but Psyche's divine magic smites him back down, so all he can do is get jabbed at like a particularly unfortunate pincushion. After a few more struggles, the liger goes limp.

Athos is dead.]

[Perhaps thankfully(?) Waltaquin and her waddledragon were a big enough show that Baizhu could see enough of it from closer to the robot side of things that he could sneak his way over to Walt.

He doesn't hesitate before dragging Walt a little further away, out of the line of fire, and then dropping down next to her to start healing the wounds.]

[The shields absorb physical impacts, so kicking them is not going to do much -- but using the impacts as a push towards the spikes? That one works.

Xiao is able to knock out the ones Chuuya hasn't gotten, and the rest seem to be preoccupied elsewhere, too.]

[In the chaos, Billy witnesses Lacus get skewered in the collar area, and nearly forgets where he is as he goes to help her, getting the spike out of her and trying to plug the blood.]

Hey, c'mon, lass. Not gonna fuckin' lose you, don't you even think about goin' out like this.

[It's all too familiar, isn't it?]

[She drops easily, too, panting a little from a mix of the exertion of her dragon hex and the wounds.]

Be quick about it, if you don't mind, Doctor Baizhu. [She winces.] I have no intention of missing a showdown of these proportions!

[She giggles with a edge of manic glee that he might chalk up to shock, if he literally had never met her ever before in his life.]

[ stares at my dice rolls but anyway

there's an opening and he takes it when the dome cleaves itself into two from the sword attacks, firing off a decently powered beam from above, one that's probably not enough to one-hit KO overhaul but enough to do a decent amount of damage.

it takes a moment to charge up his attack though, and since joshua is levitating, it's... not great. the spikes hone in on him, and it takes one to knock him off balance, and he doesn't see the second one coming--

it goes straight through his shoulder, and this is what happens when you're a squishy mage, because that? is enough to send him crashing to the ground instead, with a bleeding shoulder that's completely out of commission. ]

[ Lacus barely even screamed, genuinely too shocked by the sudden pain to do anything at all. Now that she's off the spike and laying down on the floor, held up by Billy, there is some recognition of what is even going on.

Is she... dying? This can't be it, she promised--

Below Billy's caring hand, the tissue within her moves. What was a stab wound clean through her body heals itself from the inside out -- and the necklace shatters over her chest. ]

I...

[ She feels like she can breathe properly again, but that just means the pain is properly kicking in now. Lacus winces. The former stab wound is still bleeding, both a the back and of the front of her body, but it's flesh wounds now.

Nasty, painful flesh wounds. ]

Hnngh-- Th-thank you. Magic sure is... convenient, huh?
