INVESTIGATION

Good Mourning. Unlike the previous weeks, there's no musical serenade to greet you, just the ambient sounds of the island and the stirrings of those you spent the night with, if you were the type to want company. For those of you on certain islands, the background thrum (and siren laments, for those unlucky) of the warp phenomenon may also have sung you to sleep; but will they sing you to waking? You know how this goes by now, so is anything on this of all mornings really comforting? And is everyone you spent the night with still with you...?

Indeed, the not-so-dulcet tones of the ever-present haze fill the morning; you may not want it accounted for, but here it is nevertheless.

[ This is the most awkward thing to be doing... Lacus is going to finish her 'taking off the shirt' project first, because she's gonna want to examine injuries eventually...

... but then it's time to empty his pockets first and see what we got here. And also check if anything is off about the keys or if they're just... being keys. ]

[Taking off the shirt sure does reveal Some Injury.

That said, she’s got those pocketses now! Zelkov is carrying:

(1) U-PINION
(1) Dove cabana key
(1) Travel sewing kit
And a partridge in a pear tree (1) kitchen knife

The keys are, fortunately, just being keys. There’s just a metric shitton of them because Zelkov is Zelkov.]

[ Hi, he's here to take over for Lacus. He'll get to those injuries once he's done looking over the contents of those pockets.

All of this doesn't seem particularly out of place, given what he knows about Zelkov, though he's gonna examine that kitchen knife for any potential blood or chips not consistent with normal wear and tear.

And... any DMs since last night on that U-PINION? He wants to be a little bit respectful of Zelkov's privacy... ]

[The kitchen knife has seen signs of use, notably because there are small wood splinters caught in nicks on the knife. There is no blood, though!

As for the U-PINION, there are no new DMs since last night.]

[diabolizes]

[ Alright, he'll keep that in mind just to see if it matches up with anything else someone finds, even though it could be from crafts... or something.

Anyway, with that cleared, he's going to take a quick look at the sewing kit and the key. Anything odd about those—is the sewing kit in disarray or does it have blood in it for some ungodly reason, is the key fine and not bent, etc.? ]

[The sewing kit and the key both look perfectly fine! No blood, no damage, no disarray. They were carefully stowed away, unlike Zelkov, who was not so carefully stowed.]

[ Carefully stowed away... just as expected!

Setting those things aside, he'll get a better look at Zelkov himself. Now, how are these injuries on him looking, aside from his arm? ]

[While WWX is setting things aside, he may notice something else on the floor next to Zelkov, half-hidden by all his discarded clothing.

Injury-wise, there's a lot of spectacular bruises all over -- some bloody cuts are also visible in the middle of the carnage. The worst of it is concentrated around his left stump, unsurprisingly, which shows evidence of crushing and mangling. Yikes.]

[ Oh, yikes indeed! He thinks it'll be hard to discern what caused the crushing without anything he can point to, so he'll make note of that and look at the other injuries for the time being. Are those bruises concentrated anywhere in particular, or are they all over like one might see in a fight? Same with those cuts—are they deep or long? Or are they short and only surface level?

As for that something else, he's gonna move aside some of those discarded clothes to get a look at it. ]

[The bruises aren't particularly concentrated save for around the arm stump area -- it looks like what you'd see in a pretty rough scuffle, really. As for the cuts, they're not particularly deep nor long, they look more like surface wounds.

With the pesky clothing out of the way, Wei Wuxian discovers... another kitchen knife! This one is quite bloody.]

[ How lovely! Is there just blood on it, or is there any evidence of this being used with a lot of force, such as chips, unusual wear and tear, etc.? ]

[It's certainly got a fair few nicks, though the rest of it is gleaming sharp (what isn't bloody, anyway). The damaged parts certainly look like they could be consistent with a lot of force being exerted!]

[diabolizes]

[ Alrighty. He'll be setting that aside to bag up and take in to trial later, along with that other knife with the wood carvings.

He's gonna turn his attention back on Zelkov, given the whole... gas thing. The gas masks are hard to miss after all, and thankfully he came in when it was safe. Anyway! He's going to peek at Zelkov's eyes to see if they look abnormal, and he'll of course be checking out that tongue.

Look, he's paranoid about this stuff now. ]

[Checking on Zelkov's closed eyes will show that they're red and irritated underneath the lids.

The tongue itself looks all right, but examining the face in general will turn up some light blistering.]

[diabolizes]

[ Whew, good to know someone else didn't get hit with the same poison. Though that blistering certainly tells a story... but he's not going to theorize on that just yet. Instead, he'll be giving Zelkov another look over, front and back, to see if he missed anything.

He's also going to pat down his pants and push up the legs just to see if there's any bruising there while keeping his dignity in tact. ]

[The full lookover just nets more bruising and overall damage -- his legs certainly haven't been spared, but they look a little better than the torso and arms.

Speaking of which, his intact hand displays similar blistering to his face.]

[ Ah, more blistering... alright, he's noting that down.

He's going to take a look around Zelkov for any other hidden knives before circling back to his left arm just to be thorough. How badly crushed and mangled is it? ]

[No more surprise knives, thank goodness.

The arm is pretty badly crushed! Like, to the point where, if you peek at the exposed bone -- the bone has cracks running through what's visible.]

[diabolizes]

[ That sure is pretty bad! Damn, poor Zelkov.

If there isn't anything else that jumps out at him regarding Zelkov's body, then he's going to say that his work here is done. ]
