WEEK 5 INVESTIGATION
INVESTIGATION
Good Mourning. Unlike the previous weeks, there's no musical serenade to greet you, just the ambient sounds of the island and the stirrings of those you spent the night with, if you were the type to want company. For those of you on certain islands, the background thrum (and siren laments, for those unlucky) of the warp phenomenon may also have sung you to sleep; but will they sing you to waking? You know how this goes by now, so is anything on this of all mornings really comforting? And is everyone you spent the night with still with you...?
Indeed, the not-so-dulcet tones of the ever-present haze fill the morning; you may not want it accounted for, but here it is nevertheless.
(( OOC: Welcome to your final murder investigation, let's get this party started☆ ))

There seems to be something happening here.
First of all, though, something small leaps out, kicking a gas mask straight at Lacus. Is she able to catch a hold of it or does she catch her with her face? ]
no subject
But she'll raise her arms defensively, so the gas mask is likely to hit Orange (held in place in front of Lacus' face on accident). ]

It always has to be lab...

Fou scampers off, leaving the lab entrance available for entry.
Ready to venture forward, Lacus and Wang Lu? ]
no subject
[ Even if this whole incident kind of smashed Orange into her nose unfortunately. She'll accept the mask from Wang Lu and put it on, looking grim. ]
Nona and Zelkov are both missing. I hope we find neither of them here.
[ Let us march forward... ]
no subject
Securing the mask on his own face. ]
Ah, that doesn't bode well. [ Two missing? He's leaving the jokes at home.
Let us investigate. What is obvious at first glance? ]
no subject
Well, it looks quite a lot like a disaster zone in here. Things broken, spilled, blood, whathaveyou.
The air is heavy, but fortunately, you have your gas masks to protect you both.
But, there might be something on over that lab table, kind of hard to see without getting closer...continue on sallying forth, my intrepid explorers? ]
no subject
Please be alive... please be alive...
[ Directed to nobody in particular except the Zelkov in her head, really.
Lacus doesn't hesitate to step through the mess and inspect the table. ]
no subject
Who is on the table? ]
no subject
Those things are nice, aren't they?
Perhaps, Lacus will be fortunate that her hopes will hold true. There is nothing to say that there isn't.
It's been weeks in this island resort, with the lot of you who have grown close to one another having evaded loss of certain individuals.
Perhaps it has helped that recent ones, while unfortunate, have not ultimately resulted in too many torn bonds or rifts. Though, that may be subject to differing opinions.
But, the fact remains is this:
No one might have anticipated this person as a victim, considering his general capability among your folk, even if not one posed to stick out like a sore thumb. Still a constant and memorable presence, doubtless usually notable as having an unforgettable levelheadness even in the thick of nonsense. Though, there is no mistaking that midnight colored hair, that motionless body which is slumped against the lab table, missing one arm. Eyes closed, unmoving, with no chance of resuscitation whatsoever.
Wang Lu can probably tell that this might become dire for a certain someone beside him. After all...
Lacus will remember those days of working with this particular individual, a pillar of support as they crafted together things in garden.
Those wonderful days will be cemented doubtlessly in her mind.
Unfortunately, for her, those days are over. Because this certain individual, holding a pair of vibrant golden eyes will never open them again.
Zelkov is dead. ]

Her steps were quick and determined when she began approaching the table, but on the last meters Lacus slows down and falters. ]
You... I'm so sorry.
[ Lacus looks down at Orange in her hands. 'A good luck charm', she'd said. After all, would Zelkov bring himself into danger if he had one of hers looking after him? One of hers to look after?
But of course, Orange had never been in danger. Orange had been left guarding the garden, their projects and prayers within it. ]
I'm sorry... Zelkov... I should have been with you...
[ She knows that she can't disturb the crime scene, but she can at least run a finger over his cheek, can't she? This much should be allowed, surely? ]
Please... sleep well. You've slept so little.
no subject
Once she's done, he will slowly approach and very carefully put his hand on her shoulder. It's light enough she can move away if she doesn't want any contact right now. ] I'll keep watch at the entrance if you need a bit more.
no subject
We don't have time for that. There will be a trial and we're going to want to be prepared.
[ Last week they let a culprit go free. This week? No way. Lacus does not believe in the death penalty as a structural feature - but she is not going to let the wrong person take the fall for doing this to Zelkov of all people. ]
no subject
I'll put my all in helping you find the answers
[ As much as he can at least. ]
