TRIAL

Like last week, the kitty bots herd everyone over to the sandbar once the time for investigation has concluded. At the least, this little piece of your personal hells has emerged unscathed in all the wreckage. Unlike last week, Overhaul and Shigaraki are already there waiting for you, the former looking about as grouchy as a mask can get and the latter looking pretty amused.

Off to the side in a booth of its own is the body as well as attendant kittybots; apparently it’s messy enough this time to require some clearance, but it’s still close enough for the admins to oversee.

This murder sure was something, even for your masterminds. Theorize and/or judge about who could have done such a thing and get a snack from your local kitty bots if you get hungry—the theme is italian today, with pizza, mozzarella sticks, stuffed meatballs and the like.

(( OOC: Welcome to your second trial! You'll have 7 hours (8PM EST/5PM PST) to find the killer and send them off their death, if you believe in justice at least. Since this is scapegoat style, finding the correct killer is not mandatory!

[ Yoink. That tiny tower is snapped up as soon as it touches Shigaraki's head. He looks at it with something like dry amusement, holding it securely with all five of his fingers.

There's a glance at Overhaul and everything that's going on, his red eyes particularly bright. He turns back to the cycle of death and rebirth after a beat. ]

I don't mind mess, but I'm not here to grind somethin like this out. This just reminds me of that guy, so 'nough showboating. [ It'd be so easy for him to activate his quirk, but instead he closes his fist with enough force to completely shatter the tower into pieces.

As fate would have it (can you call any of this fate or is it just paying the reaper in so many ways?), the moment the tower shatters is square in the middle of one of the respawn cycles. With how all his past victims have fallen, it's definitely not a pretty death, and some degree of gruesome, but at least this one is final.

Lobelia is dead. ]

That's that. [ Overhaul gets another look, this being the most they've considered each other up until this point. Bonding. ]

You got the rest, right?

[ Lacus has not been looking away from Lobelia's torment even once, but at some point in all of this she's dropped to her knees and started sobbing.

It's the last thing he'd want to see and the last thing she wants to show. But even as veteran of two wars, as one who has seen so much and shouldered so much guilt, Lacus is still just a girl of only 19.

There is only so much she can take. ]

[ zelkov doesn't think he will ever fully understand these feelings of hers, and he can't support them. he doesn't think any of this actually had to happen the way it did.

but he'll still support her, and quietly kneel down next to her to put an arm around her shoulders. ]

[ She didn't want him to see her like this. She really, really meant to get away from the trial island and not show a moment of weakness to anybody here.

But as it is, she can barely breathe through her sobs, so she presses her face into Zelkov's shoulder and clings to him tightly. It'll take a few minutes after the group starts dispersing until she's ready to stand up. ]

[Shuda can't even say he knows Lacus, not really. But from what he's seen of her so far - her kindness and idealism - he can't help but be reminded of Cattleya, and for a moment something twinges in his heart.

So when she drops to her knees, sobbing, it just feels natural for him to reach out to rest his flesh and blood hand gently on one shoulder in a silent show of support.]

The sound of her knees hitting the sand makes Shigaraki pause in his steps, and he spares her a glance. Zelkov is already at her side and Shuda isn't far behind, so it's only a moment before he's moving again.

But maybe it's enough for her to feel his eyes on her regardless, and should she look up his expression is perhaps curiously, impassive. ]

[... Shuda sees this.

He sees this, and he'll remember.]

...Ahh, so that's their love.

[ Some time during all this, Moravia takes point, watching everything unfold with a twinkle in her eye and a light smile on her lips. If it weren't for the gruesomeness of the scene, perhaps someone could describe the glint in her eyes as a girl enraptured by the sight of love. ]

I can't say I expected otherwise, but I really don't understand it.

[ Her smile doesn't drop despite all of this, but when her expression never changes, doesn't it feel more like a plastered-on mask than something truly euphoric? ]

[ Have a comment on his way out. ]

That makes two of us. [ ...probably more than that, but as if he considers the feelings of most people. ]

[ The smile on her lips relaxes a bit at that, looking a bit more natural. ]

Maybe the world will end before we can.

[ He laughs. ]

[It’s all horrific. Billy can feel something twist when Beel breaks apart—-Dammit, lad, you’ve got brothers waiting for you—- but otherwise the horror show keeps on going.

If it were anybody else, maybe he’d think it was excessive. But for Lobelia? It feels right: give him the pleasure he wants until there’s no pleasure left in it. Gorge him on his desserts until he chokes on them and all that’s left is pain. It’s no more than what someone like Lobelia deserves.

And since Beel turns out to be fine, Billy doesn’t feel any guilt about the small smile of satisfaction that hits his face.

If only this kind of justice existed everywhere. If only all supes could die with this kind of karma.]
