WEEK 3; TRIAL

TRIAL

Like last week, the kitty bots herd everyone over to the sandbar once the time for investigation has concluded. At the least, this little piece of your personal hells has emerged unscathed in all the wreckage. Unlike last week, Overhaul and Shigaraki are already there waiting for you, the former looking about as grouchy as a mask can get and the latter looking pretty amused.

Off to the side in a booth of its own is the body as well as attendant kittybots; apparently it’s messy enough this time to require some clearance, but it’s still close enough for the admins to oversee.

This murder sure was something, even for your masterminds. Theorize and/or judge about who could have done such a thing and get a snack from your local kitty bots if you get hungry—the theme is italian today, with pizza, mozzarella sticks, stuffed meatballs and the like.
(( OOC: Welcome to your second trial! You'll have 7 hours (8PM EST/5PM PST) to find the killer and send them off their death, if you believe in justice at least. Since this is scapegoat style, finding the correct killer is not mandatory!

Please remember to vote before then unless you've spoken to a mod, as votes are our stand-in for AC. ))

Why would someone have changed his clothes out? Shuda, you said what he had on was put on over his injuries, right?

[He nods.]

There weren't any holes in the shirt. There was blood, but I couldn't see what had happened until I unbuttoned it.

Why bother with that? And why clean his clothes out, or fold them?

...

A trophy, maybe?
dancing_flames: (I accept your challenge)

[personal profile] dancing_flames 2023-06-03 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hmm. That does make sense to the old bounty hunter part of him.]

It's possible, though I'm not sure where they thought they'd be able to hide something like that from everyone else.

Heheh! If the killer intended to keep Monsieur Vergilius' clothing as a trophy, don't you suppose they would have taken them instead of leaving them behind? What a Γ©trange fΓ©tiche...

[god it's still too early in the morning to be dealing with lobelia

"beel it's almost noon"

too early]

Maybe they didn't want to get caught with it.

[It's never too early in the day to suffer through Lobelia!]

You would think that wouldn't stop a determined killer! Alas, we'll have to accept that while Monsieur Vergilius is no longer among us, at least his clothing is safe and free from harm.

[personal profile] dakicover 2023-06-03 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe it wasn't to take his clothes as a trophy but to ridicule him. Vergilius was a serious and grumpy man to the point of pessimism. The shirt would be like rubbing salt over the metaphorical wound.
conchy: (22)

[personal profile] conchy 2023-06-03 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a fine point! He was quite easy to tick off, wasn't he? Your theory isn't beyond the realm of possibility!
dakicover: (pic#16445510)

[personal profile] dakicover 2023-06-03 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
So we either found someone that felt bad about what they did after the fact or someone that hated him enough to desecrate his corpse even after all of that.
conchy: (26)

[personal profile] conchy 2023-06-03 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
He did make himself rather easy to hate, didn't he? Still, it seems Monsieur Vergilius was rather well liked on the island, non?
dakicover: (pic#16445485)

[personal profile] dakicover 2023-06-03 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I think so. He was abrasive, but maybe that was his way of pushing people away so that he wouldn't get too close to them.
conchy: (22)

[personal profile] conchy 2023-06-03 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Heheh! Are you suggesting he had a hidden soft spot?

[Is this gap moe?]

He was sad, mostly. But he wasn't cruel. He cared about people, and wanted to help.

I feel as though we ought to at least consider a more benign reason for this, in that Vergilius was cleaning his clothes himself before this altercation took place.

[ Their braincell sharing ]

There didn't seem to be any holes in his regular clothes. So he likely wasn't wearing them.
gluttoning: (029)

[personal profile] gluttoning 2023-06-03 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. Wouldn't the clothes be covered in debris from the roof if that was the case, though?
dupiety: (🌟 mind palace)

[personal profile] dupiety 2023-06-03 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
A valid point. I was not present at the scene so I cannot say for certain, but it seems that the majority of the damage was away from the machine his were at.

However, I would like to add onto my theory: from the way the damage to the laundry room is being described, it sounds as though the altercation began there and moved elsewhere. It very well could have been where Vergilius found himself initially trapped last night.
gluttoning: (035)

[personal profile] gluttoning 2023-06-03 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
...Ah. Maybe since he was stuck there, he just did it to pass the time or something.

Maybe we should check where everyone was last night, to be sure.
dupiety: (pic#16454197)

[personal profile] dupiety 2023-06-03 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm. No, I believe it must have been intentional. He had a change of clothes on him, after all.

That said, I agree that we should take note of everyone's whereabouts. I have a few questions I'd like to ask regarding that.

Might depend on how the damage was done and where it was in comparison. It looks like the damage gushed out from inside to out. That may have spared the clothes.
gluttoning: (025)

[personal profile] gluttoning 2023-06-03 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Inside to out...

That would mean there would be more debris outside the building than falling inside, right?

There's quite a bit of debris by the cabanas? Wonder what kind of power did that...
divector: (β“˜ crossroad ahead)

[personal profile] divector 2023-06-03 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
There were quite a few decent-sized pieces of debris around when I stepped out of the cabana this morning. Most of them fell closest to the resort where the laundry is.
