[There's a basic note that gives instruction that the 'power' activates upon the user 'willing' it to do so, including the details of the power as well as the name of the item:

White Flowery Gloves - A pair of gloves with flower-like designs along the ends that blend in almost completely with the original color.

Gives a magic shield each time it's used. Only 'one' shield can be up at a time.

Protects the user from six medium attacks, before breaking. But, if the user were to take a mortal blow before that point, this item instead breaks and renders the blow non-fatal.

There is also a personal note sent along that reads:
